Countdown

Countdown, aired May 19, 2004

What can I say about Trip and T'Pol in this episode! They worked together - YAY! And problem solved together! YAY! These two need to work together - but oddly enough, T'Pol wasn't being very logical and Trip didn't like her suggestions. T'Pol zinged Trip with the line: "Or you might surprise me with an idea of your own." Ouch!

T'Pol was jealous...of Hoshi? Come on! At least bring Amanda back! She was worth being jealous over.

Trip and T'Pol had a spat, made up, T'Pol apologized for her behavior and admitted she is being emotional. T'Pol called Trip "Trip!" Trip stopped - stunned! Trip laughed at/with her twice, Trip said he *had* to be there when Soval saw T'Pol in a Starfleet outfit, there was a Captain's dinner, Trip and Malcolm had a scene, and, oh yeah, the story about the Xindi continues to capture our attention! Hayes died - BOO! The Insectoids caught on to the Reptillian deception and were killed - BOO! And Archer left T'Pol in charge of ... watching out for Trip. YAY!

Did I mention Trip brought up Soval's name? :D Made *my* day!

T'Pol, Malcolm and Travis return to Enterprise. Trip releases T'Pol from the pod. She immediately starts issuing orders for what he is to do and where he is to meet her.

Does T'Pol ever take her eyes off Trip? Focused!

Sad news. Hawkins! So young. Both men are upset but suppress their feelings.

Trip and T'Pol working together!

T'Pol stresses about Hoshi. (OK, I'm dropping the whole jealous thing - not necessary to get digs in at Hoshi.)

You OK? Trip asks, when T'Pol shuts down the Hoshi conversation. "I'm fond of Hoshi as well." T'Pol really has no problem with Trip's affection for Hoshi, or his worries. But T'Pol can't afford to be distracted by Hoshi's plight.

Sphere 41 is the control. Archer orders Trip and T'Pol to figure out how to disrupt the spheres and perhaps take them out.

Our fearless duo return to work.

Hoshi is being tortured so that she will cave in and decipher the third code. She spits in Dolum's face!

The Aquatics are willing to cooperate if the spheres are deactivated.

Trip and T'Pol still trying to crack the secret for destroying the spheres. Trip likes none of T'Pol's suggestions.

He has pissed T'Pol off royally, and she lets him know it by implying Archer wants the spheres destroyed and Trip isn't being cooperative. After all, Archer promised something he knew he might not be able to deliver - of course it will be Trip's fault if it doesn't happen.

When Trip says he is trying not to make a liar out of Archer (myst123 is biting...biting...biting her tongue) T'Pol snaps at him about his *attitude*.

T'Pol: "You've dismissed *all* my proposals."
Trip: "When you come up with one which doesn't involve blowing ourselves up, I'll be a little more enthusiastic."
T'Pol: "You might surprise me with an idea of your own." (Meow! - claws in, sweetie!)

Oh! The gloves are off!
Trip:" Maybe you haven't had time to meditate. I don't know. But whatever's going on with you lately, I've had enough."

"I'll work on this in Engineering. Call me *if* you have any more *brilliant* ideas."

Commander! ...Trip!

Everything that's happened recently has caused me to become slightly emotional.

I've noticed.

T'Pol: "I apologize"
Trip: "Forget about it."
T'Pol: "I wish I could. It may take some itme for me to regain my control. It will be difficult for me to deal with, especially...on my own."

This hasn't been easy for any of us. You know how much I appreciate what you did for me. When this is over, I'm all ears.

Why don't we take another crack at this?

T'Pol gives a slight nod of her head. GREAT SCENE!

Trip and T'Pol are now in sync and working hard. Trip doesn't want Archer to have made too many promises. T'Pol knows Archer has. "We'll keep working."

And T/T are back at work, working miracles.

Captains Log: Archer appreciates the way the crew has pulled together.

Malcolm and Hayes meet. They come to understand each other - both love their crew and want them safe. Hard when the job means their people are always in danger.

A Captain's Table! Yay!

Trip is the master organizer, once more there to sooth the angst of his friends by creating as normal an atmosphere as possible. He challenges both Archer and T'Pol to think beyond the immediate thread to their future. And Trip loves his steak! Poor T'Pol - she is singing the "I love my human, but he eats red meat" blues.

Trip is sorry the mess hall has suffered and he hasn't been able to put all to rights, but T'Pol assures him *only Chef* has complained. Ouch!

Trip isn't happy about the ration packs. As several people have pointed out, T'Pol had to eat pepperoni pizza! Trip must have been freaking out that his love was so treated.

Trip invites both Archer and T'Pol to have drinks at the 602 Club. (I read that Berman used to go to the 602 Club as a student, which is in...Madison, Wisconsin?)

"What about you?"

"You may buy me a drink."

Trip has moved on with the discussion, but forgot to clue T'Pol in. He is amused with her response - amused by his own reaction to her response?

I meant, what are you plans for the future?

It has been a long time since you have been to Vulcan. Trip! So true! T'Pol, please take us all on a trip to Vulcan. And that last sentence isn't a double entendre.

T'Pol would love to meet up with old colleagues...

(Oh, T'Pol, who exactly?)

...but she is thinking about formalizing her relationship with Starfleet.

Trip envisions a distressed Soval seeing T'Pol in a Starfleet uniform (little knowing that in the AU of Twilight, T'Pol and Soval already had that sartorial discussion) and savors the image.

"Please let me be there!"

T'Pol sends a killing glance Trip's way and decides that her father and her love will never cross paths again.

"I said I was *considering* it." Trip, why must you push her buttons?

Oh, the teasing glance! He just loves it. Trip, sweetie, she doesn't love it. Get the teasing under control.

The Sphere Builders create a massive anomaly from the sphere, which wipes out the Aquatics and puts up a barrier between most of the ships and the Reptillians. (Oh, sorry, there is actually a whole action story going on behind the Trip and T'Pol scenes. :D )

The MACOs beam over to rescue Hoshi off the Reptillian ship. Enterprise has been hit! Trip does his best to get the transporter working to retrieve the away team and Hoshi, but...

...he can beam back only two at a time.

Hayes is the last, and is hit right in the process of being beamed back onto Enterprise.

Hayes dies.

Awful.

The weapon again disappears into subspace. Ten hours until it gets to Earth. But first, can T/T deactivate the spheres to appease what remains of the Aquatics?

T'Pol says yes. T'Pol really is the dreamer in this relationship! Trip is much more pragmatic and cautious.

Oh! The Deceiver!

And the Deceived!

Trip orders Malcolm to come back, and bring a piece of the Xindi weapon with him. A souvenir.

Yes.

Archer tells Trip and T'Pol to meet at the rendezvous point. "Captain!" Trip calls, not Cap'n. Good luck!

"I expect you to keep him in line," Archer tells T'Pol. Archer has realized that Trip will never be his, so he is giving his approval to T'Pol as the victor.

"I'll do my best."

A whole mess of folks have made comments

in many ways the dinner scene reminded me of breaking the ice where trip was trying to make everyone feel comfortable.
they all know this may be the last time they all get to eat together and trip is going to make the best of it.
at one point jon who understands what trip is doing does the head nod and smile..because this reminds jon of old times and one reason he is so fond of him.

and trip's to t'pol... pleaaasse let me be there about soval seeing her in a starfleet unifrom..
did tpol hesitate a little considering the reaction of daddy dearest.

and i know archer isnt high on your list but at least inlcude where he tells tpol to look after trip.

great caps...

thanks for the caps.
great job as always.
i cant wait to get home and watch it on tivo.

I haven't been able to watch much of the show but have been coming here to check out the trip/t'pol moments (made me download so many good eps). This one I caught on tv and am surprised how fast you get the caps up! Yay! I'm so glad I could catch the ep where T'pol actually called Tucker 'Trip'! That left me 'awwwing' and my mom wondering if I was insane. Thank you for the excellent pics! I can't wait for more! Trip and T'pol forever!

Thanks for the caps - I look forward to these every thursday morning! You do an excellent job for all us Trip/T'Polers. If she calls him Trip is she finally coming round to admitting her feelings for him?!

You forgot about one little thing: T'Pol admitted that it will be difficult for her to recover _on_her_own_. For a Vulcan, it was like telling "please, help me, I can't survive all alone, you are my only hope". She did call him by his nickname after all. How desperate she must've been... And Trip assured her that he will be there for her, whenever she needs him.

thanks as always for the pics. i was so sad when the aquatics' ship got obliterated though. i wish you could include a cap of that as well. the trip/t'pol scene where she goes "commander-- TRIP!" was just great. i'm glad she finally called him by his name. after all he did say a long long time ago, "my friends call me trip". = P

oh yeah this was a good one. And did any notice how fast he was walking to get to the shuttle? Was in a hurry to see the data collected or to see T'Pol? ;)
oh and I loved her saying "TRIP!" and the look on his face, thanks for capturing that! lol "I'm all ears" was a great line. This epi. was so good and I was so glad to know that even amongst the arc they had time to put some very human moments in there. :)

Sab

Did anyone else think T'Pol was going to cry when Trip offered to be "all ears" for her if she needed to talk? That was sweet and she knew it.

Those two are SO in love.

Is it me or does that last pic make Trip and T'Pol look like they're making action figure poses?

I was so glad to read that T'pol called Trip, Trip
in this episode, the caps are wonderful as always, thankyou, another episode for us to look forward to here in England.

I SO agree, Stub! T'Pol got very "misty eyed" at how Trip was to her. I am SO glad we got more "moments" between them. I was getting a little nervous TPTB would completely drop this in favor of all the other stuff going on.

The caps rock as always!

I don't think T'Pol's jealous of Hoshi, Myst--I think she's upset about Hoshi, and doesn't want to think about what might be happening to Sato. She really doesn't want Trip bringing it up, b/c it's upsetting and makes it difficult for T'Pol to work.

Stephanie, in my little 'shipper world, T'Pol was jealous of Hoshi. You are probably right, but I like my interpretation, except that I can't see T'Pol being jealous of Hoshi, either.

A wonderful episode, we finally got to see hoshi grow a slight (if minute) will against torture. Trip and T'pol were firing chemistry back and forth. Hayes died :-( but his death scene was very well handled.
And points to anyone who noticed that the arboreal's face was red on the situation deck. Any explanation for that?

^^ I thought he looked darker!! It was a passing flitter of a thought in my head, though. I was enjoying TnT too much, in all honesty.

Swoon, fall, crash!!! Can Trip look any cuter, and T'Pol more winsome. Blast--I adore these two!!! Hugs and kisses for the Tee-riffic caps.

I think T'Pol is having trouble controlling her emotions. She feels more emotion when she's reminded of bad things -- like Hoshi being tortured or dead. I think T'Pol just wanted Trip to focus on their work because his rambling about Hoshi disrupted her coping method.

Have i been reading too much fiction or did DK just have an odd look on his face looking at hayes in that piccy above ^^. Coz its like he had feelings for the guy. Maybe seeing the episode will clear it up but i gotta see the council first. thanx 4 the gr8 caps

This episode was awesome!!!! I loved the scenes between Trip and T'Pol. I heard in season 4 they are going to continue building the T/T relationship!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!! Look for it at www.trektoday.com

What do you all think Trip meant when he asked T'Pol what her plans were for the future? Do you think he was fishing for information because he'd like to have some future with her or that he's just another obtuse guy who doesn't think that far ahead?

Thanks as always for the caps. I'm so glad you got one of Trip's smile when he was telling T'Pol he'd be glad to be there for her. It was an amazing smile. He looked so sweet and loveable. :)

well the nicest part of the interaction between malcolm and hayes was when hayes was telling him about how they felt like outsiders when they first came on board.. mal apologises for any part he played in that and hayes told him that the point was that they felt very much at home now..
they were all part of the same crew no matter what uniform they wore.

as for the hoshi thing..
if there was a touch of jealousy it was maybe not directed at hoshi per say but rather tpol maybe wondered if trip had worried about her while she was away.

but yeah i think the majority of it was that she was also concerned for hoshi and couldnt let her self dwell on it so she had to get him to refocus.
and i did like how he called her on it when she told him they were there to analyse data not speculate on the fate of ensign sato.

you ok trip called to her.

oh did anyone notice that when tpol leaves the shuttle she starts snapping orders.. was she avoiding possibly having to tell hayes about hawkins.. had she and malcolm discussed how to handle this.

but as she is walking toward the door she keeps on looking intently at trip.

There are several *really* *charming* smiles in this ep. I'm a happy girl...

I think Trip was "fishing" for information when he asked T'pol what her plans were for the future. He's afraid to let on how much he likes her because he's not quite sure how she feels yet.

He was absolutely tickled at the thought of her joining Starfleet and staying in his life for a while longer. And the fact that she even considered that idea and has now told him about it, shows that she's not quite ready to say goodbye to him either. At least that's my rose-tinted take on the whole thing! :)

I wonder if T'pol actually WILL join Starfleet next season?

cd39.jpg is my favorite one. It's the one in the dinner scene where he's looking down and in profile. *drool*

Tripwatcher, I totally agree. :D

Make that cd35.jpg and cd39.jpg. CT in profile... *THUD*

I like those smiles in cd41.jpg and cd49.jpg.
*THUD* indeed!!!

The 602 Club is in Madison? I live in Madison! I must find it! :)

Loved the episode...Choked on dinner when she called him Trip.

He can buy her more than a drink. And I'm sure she knows exactly how to keep him in line!

And I definately agree with the action figure poses.

Myst, surely you made a mistake! "T'Pol sends a killing glance Trip's way and decides that her father and her love will never cross paths again". No, no, daddy has got to find out. You practically promised to write this one. And on a more serious note, if T'Pol joins Starfleet, do the non-fraternisation rules kick in and so put a stop to anything intimate between T/T?

well i suspect tpol would come in as a commander and possibly remain as first officer due to the length of experience she has both as a vulcan officer and acting first officer enterprise.

and it just takes a little tweaking or really an official recognition of how the ship seems to have been ran..

trip's original orders comes from jon.. it has been that way since the begining.
tpol may check with trip to see how they are coming ie if he needs help but the over all feeling is that trip reports to jon.

now if jon was off the ship an extended period of time that may raise a question but in way they t/t act like they share command.

and notice oddly enough one thing neither tpol nor jon threw at trip in cogenitor was insubordination which should have happned if they really considered trip to be under her.

the other thing is how does trip's evaluations and i also suspect that is handled by archer..
probably from the begining to make it easier for trip having to let go of being the first officer.

tpol does give him the look when he said that by soval but she looks far more relaxed in the next..
almost like possibly considering it..

i suspect soval already has a lot of mixed feelings about trip since he sees him as such a volatile humans but also a rather brillant one.

What Trip is thinking when T'pol calls out "Trip!":

She just called me "Trip"! The only other time she's done THAT is the night we made love in her quarters!

technically if t'pol joins starfeet she'll b a commander so there wont b a franernization between ranks problem.

oh, gotta love Tivo. This way, you can copy all episodes on Tape, and have a Season 3 collection. All I gotta do is buy the tapes though... :)
Love the caps!
They always show the big parts between our couple!

ShouldKnowBetter, I do want to write that story! I need to think how to do it. Anyway, I hope T'Pol joining Starfleet won't violate non-fraternization rules. pookha and Neo Getz make some good points. Anyway, T'Pol only cites Starfleet protocols under certain circumstances, like telling Archer very nicely to get lost and thanks but no thanks. When the rules work to her advantage and allow her to give the old brush off to the unwanted, she'll use them, otherwise, it's nobody else's business. :D

Terrific site, loved the caps. Keep up the good work.

For AM April - The 602 Club WAS in Madison. Sounded like a nod from Berman who went to school around there from 1963-67. The club operated from 1951 to March 1994 on 602 University Avenue(of course) at Frances Street.

"The Six" was replaced by "Wando's", a sports bar. You can read more about it here ---

I can't wait to see this episode. *swoons*

yey, episode is showing on monday here in england, summet to do while my broken scaphoid gets better

"Countdown" was an awesome ep. I missed the first 30 mins, so I really appreciate the caps =)

LOVE your comments!! Your sense of humor really cracks me up!! Thanks for a job well done!

SHE CALLED HIM TRIP!!!!!! Not Commander Tucker, not Mr Tucker, not Commander Chief Engineer..... but TRIP.

After all this time it's nice to know she can acttuly use his nick. The converstaion between em when they were workin together was as great as ever. And did you see her face when he said he'd be there to talk. Wasn't it a picture.

What really cracked me up was when they were at dinner with the Captain. Although they didn't show it that much but T'Pol was playing with her food. LOL i just thought it was very fun and very HUMAN and it just made me laugh. It's always the small things that get me.

On the whole as ever the ep was very good. I am glad that the insect wised up about the Guardians but sorry they got dystroyed. I can't wait for the next ep. Even though i know there are the screencaps here i keep myself away from them till after i see the eps. I don't want to spoil myself lol.

The next ep considering it will be the season final will most likley rock. I'm not to worried bout the Xindi. I really don't think they will win. I mean if they did there wouldn't be another series. So i am looking forwards tothe next one as it should be well good. I also look forwards to the next series as im sure there will be lots of interesting things happening. Specially if T'Pol may join starfleet. I do hope if she does Trip is there to see it when the other Valcan dude comes. It's something to look forwards to i say.

Well untill next weeks ep im off.

And actully i wanted to ask where Cole has gone? Have'nt seen much of her at all

Alright, I know that in the last three episodes especially, we saw alot of the Sphere Builders. Would anyone happen to know where I can find a picture of them? Perhaps a picture of their council?

I don't know where you can find pictures of the Sphere Builders. I asked on the HoTBBS and these two sites were recommended as possibilities:

http://enterprise.fotopic.net/

http://www.trekconnection.com/

This was a great Trip/T'Pol episode. When T'Pol called Trip 'Trip', my mouth hung open for I don't know how long. These two have a natural chemistry together.

I still love Archer and don't really understand the animosity their is towards him. Archer and T'Pol have good chemistry (I have always thought that), it's just not a sexual one. They make good friends. The chemistry between Trip and T'Pol is completely different from hers and Archer's.

I really liked the part at the end where Archer asks T'Pol to look after Trip. I don't think he's clueless about the relationship that's been developing between the two.

I was saddened by Hayes' death. But I had to laugh at the end of the week. Steven Culp was killed off on Enterprise on a Wednesday, and his character on JAG (Agent Webb) was killed off on friday of that same week. Maybe he'll make another appearance on Enterprise as an alien or something.

is Soval really Tpol's father? Because if he is WOW have I been blind
