ExileExile, aired 10/15/03 No Trip and T'Pol! But this shipper can find a slim moment of gold in the episode anyway. zealousgirl's Special Edition Report of Exile has been posted.
ZG does a great job describing T'Pol's work on this mystery, so check
out her special report for the big picture.
myst123 here: Not a great episode, although it was nice to see T'Pol and Hoshi each involved in solving the mystery using their professional strengths. The biggest disappointment was the missed opportunity to set up T'Pol and Trip as the scientists to problem solve and work together, to begin to explore the Vulcan and human dynamics and use the science in science fiction to do so. Instead, we get T'Pol isolated in her lab ala 7of9, presenting the results rather than seeing her work through the problem. Hopefully this lapse into the rut we saw last season, where T'Pol became the Vulcan prop, will only last this one episode. In the first four episodes, T'Pol's development looked so promising - we saw her working and interacting with the other crew members. Science would have been a means of exploring her character - the scene with Trip in Rajiin was a big step in the right direction. Instead, in this ep, TPTB isolate her, give her no personality in terms of her science. Once again the spark is taken out of her and, if this is a trend, she looks to become as boring this season as she was last season. Too bad.
Eight hardy souls have made commentsGreat Caps. *Loved* the shot of Trip over Archer's shoulder as they spy the sphere. And continued proof that Aubergine is definitely T'Pol's color. :) Thanks. Great caps as usual, myst! I was really bummed this ep didn't have Trip/T'Pol but it did have some, albeit brief, Archer/Trip interaction. I know TPTB were going to back off Trip/T'Pol but good grief! Wasn't this episode extreme?! Thanks for capturing the "Trip over Archer's shoulder" shot. One of my favorites! I was disappointed that there weren't enough Trip on the episode and none of T/T'P but somehow you've managed to get the right shots! Great job. You know, Trip/Archer really were funny on the sphere. Somebody on TrekBBS mentioned 'Dumb and Dumber' and whooboy, no kidding.. Trip: D'uh!! Cap'n, our ride's gettin' away! (stands there like a
helpless ninny calling for his bud) teeheeheeeeee! Episodes like this one don't fit very well into sites like this, do they?? Eh, at least I won't have much to write for my Hotness Index this week. And by that I mean, "It won't take me long to do my homework." For the record, I'm not pissy that we didn't get to see T'Pol doing the actual science. At least we know she's playing an integral part in all this. And Trip was busy with his engines, trying to outsmart the anomalies and keep his warp field stable. At least he's not sitting down there polishing the handrails and purging any more manifolds. He's probably saving up for a special late night cleaning session with Polly anyway. ;) Great shots as usual. LOVE the shot of Trip over Archer's shoulder....that is one nice picture! ah the return of the purple suit! love the caps, and did the rest of
you notice that the guy the alien projected looked like malcolm? oh will
