Future Tense

Future Tense, aired February 19, 2003

Palimpsest man.

Lovely trio!

Trip is stressing that there is no engine. (Eat something, Trip, you'll feel better.)

Trip: Maaalllccccooollmmm!
Malcolm: Don't worry, Trip, I see it, too.
Trip: Whew!

How can the ship be bigger inside than out?

Hologram? We should contact the bridge. Trip, Trip, where are you going?

Say again, Malcolm?

Give us the vessel or we will blow you away.

Contact your people. You will find I don't respond well to threats.

Trip finds new technology to explore! Oh, our boy is one happy camper!

The damn Suliban comes in from above.

Trip is out for the count, and misses Malcolm's big shoot out scene! Where are those silly hats they had on in the movie?

Malcolm rocks! You go, guy!

The ship is getting hit hard.

Trip speculates about the device. Black box?

Cap'n, I've got to show you that chamber. You're not going to believe your eyes.

Archer gets called to sick bay. The human has Vulcan DNA.

Pas posible!

Archer and T'Pol visit Daniels' quarters to look for the vessel in that nifty holographic database Daniels has.

T'Pol goes off into her own world: There are significant biological differences between the species. It is unlikely we could reproduce.

Archer's startled glance brings T'Pol back from her musings.

Humans and Vulcans, I mean.

They find the vessel, which is from 900 years in the future.

The Tholians show up. This is one popular vessel.

Our two fav aliens meet and converse. Essentially, Phlox tells T'Pol she is a stick in the mud. Logic versus openmindedness.

A very interesting scene. Malcolm and Trip work well together, and they discuss their philosophies of life in terms of knowing the future.

If you could know the name of the woman you will marry, would you want to know it?

Malcolm: Yes! No more horrid first dates!
Trip: But did you marry her because you love her or because a book told you to?
Malcolm: What does it matter, if we are happy?
Trip gives Malcolm an incredulous look.

Trip and Malcolm find themselves in a time loop. Either that, or they have been spending too much time together.

Who cares. Archer...blah, blah, blah. T'Pol...blah, blah, blah. These two HAVE NO CHEMISTRY! Get over it and move on. Let them interact with other crew members.

The tactical alert two weeks in a row!

Enterprise is in trouble.

Yes! Now Archer and Reed have chemistry. Get that warhead detonated and put on the vessel!

Trip madly trying to get the beacon to work.

T'Pol stalling for time.

The beacon disappears.

Palimpsest man disappears.

The vessel disappears. The Tholians and Suliban disappear.

Captain's Table! Trip recaps and gets us all on the same page about time travel, etc.

No evidence exists that the vessel went to the future.

No evidence exists that says it didn't.

Trip wishes the subcommander a good night.

T'Pol! You sly one! Eyes front and center.

Let's swap chromosomes. (Archer manages to make Trip and Malcolm as seen in Two Days Two Nights look suave and sophisticated.)

I'd sooner believe in time travel. Get a life, creep. (OK, editorial comment on my part, but T'Pol did give him the big brush off.)

A whole mess of folks have made comments

Well, Trip and T'Pol interaction was kept to a bare minimum, but I did like how T'Pol's eyes followed him to the door when he excused himself from the captain's table.

That look.

Humm.

Interesting.

Thanks for the picks. I also have the same response to some of the Archer/T'pol scenes - blah, blah, blah - but I can't really write that in my review on HoBBS. Wait. . . I think I have in the past.

And yup, Cursor, that's the look !

'pics' not 'picks' - oops!

LOL! Love your caption on that second-to-last pic, myst. Sums up Archer pretty well, doesn't it?? I do think T'Pol thinks he's creepy when he's so blatantly flirting with her. He's definitely not as good as Trip. (Duh...)

hmm
Once again on another board I saw where someone wondered about the Trip and T'pol chemistry.
Well for one thing it makes me want to sit down and catalog some of the looks..
but yeah T'pol does have a thing for Trips derriere.

One of the oddest and funniest ones was in Minefield. I mean jeeze T'pol a large portion of the ship just got blown away and there you are at it.

Of course she got a real great view of it in Acquisition as he crossed over her.

As for Mal and Trip's duscussion ..

Malcolm: Yes! No more horrid first dates!
Trip: But did you marry her because you love her or because a book told you to?
Malcolm: What does it matter, if we are happy?
Trip gives Malcolm an incredulous look.

One interesting thing is that Mal is willing to settle for some one that will love him..
which really goes beyond the discomfort of dating.
But rather a person who has been loved starved most of his life just hoping he will find someone that loves him.

Trip is different..
You can almost read it as he has either an idea of the type of person he wants or probably a paticular person.

And he is afraid at this present moment to find out that in the future he isnt with this person.
Trip is pretty much saying he doesnt want to settle with just anyone to keep from being alone.

These are great, Myst!

and "Palimpsest Man"! I love it! very erudite, lady!

thanks myst for another great selection..
ohh that look..

some real good captions..

"Our two fav aliens meet and converse. Essentially, Phlox tells T'Pol she is a stick in the mud. Logic versus openmindedness."

Well didnt Phlox tell Trip he was a stick in the mud about two weeks ago
;)

Logic vs open mindness
Honor vs open mindness

The desire to be with some one special even if the alternative is being alone vs willingness to settle as long as you are not alone..

well this is just me..

But I think what you see at the end is Jon the jokester prankster as seen in Unexpected and Shadows of Pjem among other places..

No wonder Trip got away when he did.. this time he saw it coming

I think maybe he was trying to pull a Trip and get a rise out of T'Pol. Didn't work. I wish he'd get a clue that Trip is the only one that really evokes any kind of emotional response from her...good or bad.

Great pics as always, myst!

The last one's my fave: Get a life, creep. Hee, hee...
