In a Mirror, Darkly - Part Two

In a Mirror Darkly - Part Two, aired April 29, 2005

Kevin Thomas Riley's review

I've rewatched the episode, ignoring the gorn, and it is definitely much better! That gorn segment lasted almost 10 minutes. No wonder it seemed endless.

T'Pol was excellent in this episode, although I wish there had been some continuity of her character between this episode and the first half. Last week she was cool, calm, and in control This week she was emotional, but this is the MU Vulcan universe, and therefore Vulcan society would have developed differently. Also, as was pointed out, she is very afraid of Archer, and without Forrest at her back she did give into fear. In the end, though, she realized her death wouldn't change anything, and she had to try. Brave woman! I wonder if she lived? We don't get to see her fate

Very little T/T, but near the beginning, when Tucker was being hounded by Archer to get the ship online, Tucker turned to T'Pol and said he needed help. T'Pol RAN to his side to help! :D

But, in the end, T'Pol did not trust Tucker, and left him out of the loop as she conspired to overthrow Archer. T'Pol and Soval make quite the team.

Hoshi is the sly one, and does know how to get to T'Pol. She mocks T'Pol about her abilities in bed, trying to make T'Pol think Tucker had slept with Hoshi. Of course, referring to him as *Commander Tucker* in the process did make that seem very unlikely. T'Pol gave Hoshi a very nice elbow to the face for her trouble.

I still think this episode had major problems, but I do think it was the director. I believe this same man is the director of next week's show, which doesn't bode well. :<( I'M WRONG!!! Lavar Burton directs the episode next week! Yay!

A whole mess of folks have made comments

Thanks Myst!
I know ya didn't like it. But the pic of T'Pol giving the Vulcan salute is cool :)

I guess I have to wait to see the episode to see what that look of distaste on T'Pol's face is directed at. I'm watching CSI and taping enterprise.

By the look of it, it's going to get worse and worse till the last episode.

How disappointing for the fans!

at least the women have ambitions!

Didn't like this one either, myst. May I be so shallow, though, as to ask for a screen cap? Please? When Trip is looking up the Jeffries tube (?) talking to Kelby, could you post that? He looks yummy! :-) The one bright spot out of the whole episode! Thank you!

i have to agree with you. not the best episode ever. but I did think the Vulcan's being the good guys was cool. and the doctor was amusing. still had the same good humor but about opposite things:)

why was t'pol so emotional? and if hoshi knows about her and trip I guess he's not holding up his end of the agreement to 'never speak of it'. :-)

G'Day,Last episode which aired Wed 27th April at 12am was titled "Damage".Here in Australia that is how far we are behind you.My point is that I know everybody is having a winge about the last remaining episode's of "S.T:Enterprise" and fair enough because you lot are watching the episode's,those of you who can make home early enough that is.Somtimes the programme disappears without notice from ch:9 network, not to be aired completely now that is frustrating!!.So enjoy what you can watch even-though some of you dont enjoy parts of every episode for Australian fans are envious of you,Hoo-roo.

I forgot to watch Enterprise. However, I later found out if I did turn to UPN at 8 I still would have missed it! In New York City Enterprise was pre-empted by a silly baseball game.

Grr. I hope I can catch a repeat on sunday. :(

i found t'pol extremely emotional in this ep too! this ep wasn't very good...but i can't wait till next week!

yeah i have seen better enterprise episodes, but being the worst one, nah is was not so bad, you wanna talk bad episode, check out Vanishing point from second season, that was bad, but overall it was ok, yeah can't wait til next week , yeah T/T have a baby !!!!!!!, GO ENTERPRISE

C'mon you call yourself fans?

At least enjoy the last couple of episodes. :)

It was sad that they made AU Archer so stupid and AU T'Pol so impractical.

Why would Archer forget that Hoshi was his enemy? She tried to gut him not too long before. What kind of idiot would drink anything she touched?

As for Archer's ambitions, it isn't a weapon that makes a person powerful. Its how many people will follow. When he leaves Defiant to take up his throne, what is to stop the next officer from phasering him and pulling the same trick from Defiant's bridge? His plan was stupid.

And Hoshi, with Mayweather. What will they do if Trip pulls a fuse somewhere? If they couldn't find the Gorn, they certainly wouldn't be able to catch Trip. Starfleet would be all over them in seconds flat and Trip would be the big hero. Why would he or anyone else in the crew follow Hoshi? Because she slept with and killed Archer? So what. They would want a leader, not a hooker.

At least Trip has a solid engineering crew of his own. All Hoshi has is a fool with a phaser and some not-very-convincing vamp.

I haven't seen this episode either yet... I am in the process of aquiring it...
But i had a look at the preview for next week's ep... and OH MY GOD i can't wait!

Ok, that outburst is over :P... Oh and Jo - Anne .D. I'm from Australia too, Which part ar you from? I'm for Newcastle and they are still showing the rest of season 3 here. They are showing "The Forgotten" on Wednesday and 12am.

How come Australia's so far behind? In The Netherlands the last shown episode is Deadalus.

OT: it was entertaining, not great. These two episodes are kind of in the way of the *real* story which has to end soon. :-(

whe dutch people are fast hehe.

i cant wait for Demons and terra prime
Trip and T'Pol have a baby yes!!!!!!!
now only hope that de baby will surfive the episode's

Mmm. Myst, it's not *that* bad.

I'm beginning to feel bad about my harsh reaction. I'll take another look, and recast the images to reflect what I really enjoyed about the show - the Vulcans and their appreciation for the idea of the Federation.

The lack of Tucker and the fact that he was so two dimensional added to my displeasure of this ep - I would have preferred more Tucker and no Gorn, I'll admit.

Myst, thank you for the screencaps do you think you could post pictures from next week Demons preview please. My station didn't show it.part2 of the mirror episode felt really rushed.I wishes we had seen more of Soval and the Vulcans. Also too bad there wasn't more T'pol and Trip scenes.

To kicks56
I live in NY and the episode is on tonight (saturday) at 8:00. This is what happended last weekend as well. You don't have to wait till Sunday. I hope you see this post in time.

@TripsGirl1987

of course we're excited

but I'm also afraid it won't survive the episodes

Yep! Thank you for posting those! :-)

we just finished the 3rd season...(okay, over 6 weeks ago...) and I'm fighting with myself if I'm gonna watch the fourth season ("again" in german ), but sourisly this episode won't be on my timetable ...

I agree, overall not a very good episode. Needed more Trip defintity. But Trip in the Red Shirt was soooo yummy. But I can't wait for Trip and T'pol to have a Baby. I loved their reactions when they heard about it. Hah, that was a corker.

Just finished seeing this ep.
Wasn't THAT bad. And I suspect the cast loved it.

And the ending was brilliant. She'd be a perfect emperess. :)

to Voice of Power
Are the Netherlands so far woth their eps already??? Here in Belguim last episode shown was A night in Sickbay (poor Porthos)

Anyway I can't wait to see any of the future T/T'P scenes :)

It was toward the end of filming this episode that they found out it was going to be cancelled, wasn't it?

It looks like it was finally payback time for Tucker.By stopping the sabotage of the Defiant he caused the execution of T'Pol.

Watching this episode was hard work. Besides the old (futuristic?) uniforms, & the return of Soval - this episode sucked. Was "Archer" suppose to be doing a Kirk impression when he put on the ugly gold/green shirt? Or did he think that syle of overacting was appropriate?

I hope there isn't any more of this AU. If there is a 3rd episode, my only hope is that for all of the little trilogies this year, the 2nd episode has always been the weakest.

These eps. were like Star Wars in reverse

Well, I had a pretty good laugh when Kelby got 'Aliened'. :-))

We had the secret for keeping Enterprise on the air here, in this forum, all along! Why didn't they listen to us?!

If Enterprise had been bogged down with two initial seasons of Kes (et sans Seven), Archer and crew wouldn't have even seen a third season. I still don't understand how Voyager ran so fracking long. The Xindi mess certainly failed to ressurect Enterprise from the ratings graveyard, a la Sven-von-Nein in VOyager. AND ALL THEY REALLY HAD TO DO WAS TURN UP THE HEAT SOMETHING FIERCE ON THE TnT RELATIONSHIP!

This should've been a season two ep. You really had to be a core ST maven to appreciate it. While the lack of ANY TnT action was seriously disappointing, it DID give our younger comrades a chance to glimpse what watching a first-run TOS ep would've been like. The "choices" made back then by Roddenberry(s) et al regarding costume, directing style (the cut-to's, beauty-shots and unnecessary panning) and thematic flow belie the culture (and counterculture) of the late 1960's. In that way, it was a "live" window to the past.

This franchise really does need a rest. I admit to being one of the biggest TnT'ers, but if the only reason we have to watch each week is this on-again-off-again romance, maybe we don't deserve any more than these final episodes. At least for a decade or so. Maybe two.

All right. I'll stop now.

have just wats it,
I liked it but to be annost i like every ent episode, ow god i'm addicted to ent

Thanks for the caps, Myst. I agree that it was tedious. It was fun at first, but in the end, I had no interest in the MU characters. I wanted to see OUR Enterprise crew interacting with those from the MU Enterprise. Without OUR crew the end reselut was irrelevance.

I just saw this episode and I must agree that it wasn't great. I miss the real universe people and I want to get back to them, god, I'm afraid to think these episodes temporarily soured me to trek in general

Although, we are a bit behind here in Australia with Enterprise episodes, I manage to update myself with the spoilers on the net. I thought the images you have provided are awesome. Do love T'pol with long hair!

Yes, I have always loved the TnT angle of the show and would love to have their characters live happily ever after. It seems like it's not going to happen at the end of the Season though...BUT we can always come up with our version of the finale...who says we have to follow BB's story?

G'Day,This is for TripsGirl1987 I hope I have written the correct name here.Responding to you're question.I live in Sydney N.S.W and "S.T:Ent" is aired on channel nine. And yes Iam looking forward to watching the episode "The Forotten" airing on Wed at 12:00am.Its a bugger if you have an early shift the following morning and I dont know how to work the timer on the video,oh well such is life. Thanks for asking though.Iam a childcare Assistant and use public tranport so an early start can be a bit much, but I enjoy "S.T" and have been a fan since the 1970's.Have a nice one in Newcastle and enjoy the weather,I love Autumn,Hoo-roo.

polly's hot with long hair

boy does he look good in red :)

i almost jumped out of my skin to see soval, he looked good too. i also believe the parallel verses should've met, but oh well, the suits are just stupid like that, que sera, sera

tpol got her nails did at some salon, and btw that was the worst chick fight i have ever seen on tv, i thought it would of been more intense, maybe they didn't want to break a nail, you kind of do have to admit it was cool that hosh made a move like that, we knew she had temper/anger issues with superiors but who knew how cunning the little translator could be, the unsuspecting ensign

however it was kinda boring, the whole "arc" eps. really killed this show (ie: season 3)

forever and ever: DAMNTHEMAN SAVEENTERPRISE!!!!!!

Soval took a rwong turn regarding enterprise's karma: feel's every damn emotion right at the inappropriate objection not perfectly reed's enemies might introduce each raw ensign something new, everyone "X" to fall zero six.

Great Pics! Loved this two-part series. It was great Star Trek and the entire cast played their alternate roles brilliantly!!

heehee, i noticed t'pol ran to help trip too! :D i agree, t'pol looks good with long hair!

T'Pol looks good with long hair and great in a miniskirt. Those TOS uniforms were absolutely the best.

hey Tim i just wanted to let you know i love enterprise, but like most series there always going to be one particular episode thats not great, but i very sad it is going off the air, it really f%$^%ing sucks, but anyway i am praying for a miracle, just wanted to say that, and this GO ENTERPRISE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
PS: I like the chick fight, it was about time with those girls

trip'd out" " One Word: Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely grabs of Trip and T'Pol as usual, though they weren't as touchy, feely as I like 'em to be, (spoiled by the previous episodes). T'Pol proves once again she can kick butt, but no fair shooting her in the back, Mr. MACO, after slashing her gorgeous face, (boo evil, empress-to-be Hoshi). Thanks for the wonders of this singular site, bar none.

Myst: It's good to be wrong every once in a while.

Oh, you know? Freeze Frame can be either really cool or really bad. Want to see what the Starfleet DB says about Archer?

Not sure if it needs space so I'll add it...

G'Day,What is this information above concerning the character of Archer? It looks interesting. If you have anymore, please type it in Iam starved for any new info on T'Pol,Trip and other characters,Hoo-roo.

JoAnne: It's from the scene where Hoshi and Archer are looking over their (real universe) personnel files.

Yeah...wasn't so inspired by this last episode :(. Trip does look really great in the old uniform; but I have to groan that he doned the "red shirt". Always a bad thing in original Trekkie speak. That doesn't sit to well with me considering the spoilers for the last episode... :(

waaaah I moved over the weekend and had no TV on friday or saturday!!! So I missed the episode... :(

G'Day This is for HOPEFULLNEBULA,Thankyou for explaining it to me.We are up to the episode titled:"E2".Australia or at least Sydney is far behind but I really look forward to watching the episode's that youre seeing now.The end of the programme is soon now, what a shame!.Thanks heaps, any more info please tell Hoo-roo.

hope that everyone see this it is great great great really flipping really good.

Empress Hoshi would last a week on the outside from court intrigue (poisoned, etc...). Her little exploit is a daily occurance in such a place....

The Emperor might have her as a sex slave for a week before tiring of her.

Maybe Hoshi wouldnt even get that far -- Mayweather turns her (and the ship) in for a reward (and would get Hoshi for HIS sex slave.....)

Does anyone have any idea, as to whom the actress was, that played the green orion slave girl?... She is the most hottest babes of the alternate universe babes, whom never got a credit, for her role....
