well cursor so far he hasnt had a concrete reason as far as we know to be monogamous.

trip may be care a lot for t'pol and possibly even love her but he doesnt know if those feelings will ever be reciprocatd.

for all we know t'pol does feel the same way back (all of the glances and some hints here and there especially the way she allows trip into her personal space unlike any other) but there has never been anything concrete expressed,.

unrequited love especially with someone that you have close daily contact with could be rough.

what i find interestng that trip does seem to choose someone he knows that he will never have contact with again.

not with someone on the ship.. possibly just in case something does develop with t'pol.

and something else to consider.. does trip on some level now enjoy the little touches of jealousy we saw from t'pol in unextected and oasis.

oasis is especially interesting.
he flirts with t'pol both on the ship and on the planet.

he get's a gaze out of her on enterprise but on the planet things are different.
he tries to tease her about ever being scared and all he gets is the vulcan.

so he meets the girl and has a pretty innocent flirtation and out comes the jealous t'pol.
oh my an almost emotional response.

and the circumstances that the jealous t'pol comes out is interesting.

she doesnt seem to have a problem with a basic one night stand on risa.
heck for her this may be a logical solution if she does care for him in some way. but at this time isnt sure how much ect or is ready for a relationship.
better to let him have a non emotional just sex outlet.. .

but once either the chance of some type of deep emotion comes in things get interesting.

in unexpected it was all the consequences that he was carrying a child of someone else/

in oasis he was projected some real sweet feelings for the girl that may have triggered it then.

and right now really trip may be wondering what is going on with t'pol.
in the past she trusted him but it was archer she turned to in 7th.

in singularity he came to her beck and call very fast but even though most of his reaction can be traced to the obsessive effects of the radiation some where deep down he may feel uneasy that he totally doesnt know where he stands right now.

to bad that he probably doesnt know that the first thing t'pol did was to go to his friend malcolm with her concerns about him (she used the sensor thing as a pretense or it really looked that why)

it is hard to say what is going on in four..
though ah hmm it is real interesting..
an expression some where between arousal and annoyance (he almost has a flinty eye look)
and something else..

now do we take bets on how this went before they were interupted.

let's see he is in his skivies but she has clothes on so..

they either were interupted before anything happened (besides the heavy kissing)
or afterward and they are putting thier clothes back on..

OMG. Can't wait to see this EP Down Under. Muddy, sweaty, dripping wet, getting-it-on Trip. Okay. I can take that. Who cares how many chicks he's had so far? Who was counting for Kirk?

Padma Lakshmi, yeah I've heard of her and she's a real looker too. Possibly prettier then Jolene, or on the show, T'Pol. That'll be a sour point between the two I'm sure.

Expect another one of those goofy jealousy scenes.

Perhaps if there is something romantic going on with T'Pol, Trip is trying to deny it completely by going after a string of alternate flings.

Notice, however, that it's all alien women, not human. I hear a lot of people say that most men date women certain charecteristics in pursuit of his idea of the perfect woman. Maybe he has a certain type of woman in mind when he goes out looking.

And that woman in his head is a tall, intellgent alien.

Is it just me or does Trip's face look flushed in that second to last pic? The guilty expression...heat of the moment interruptus...embarrassment of being caught and possibly tattled on?

He knows the wrath that awaits him back on Enterprise when Polly finds out. Maybe subconsciously he does it on purpose. I'm so writing a story about this...

drat some of my replies to thecursor got dropped out...

on the observation it is just alien women..
well that is the only thing out there as far out as he is except for the females on enterprise itself.

i believe most of the time they are out past all the human colonies and the majority of time out past where the human operated freighters are.

this is alien space.

actually this one seems closer to t'pol then the other two.

i dont know if it so much denial as well confusion . and some fear too.
if he were to get involved with t'pol it would not be a simple thing.

so there is fear of the unknown, fear of the implications on top of the normal fear of rejection.

heck sailing the river denial seems like a simple thing to do until you are sure about your course.
but then there is the risk of waiting to long.

and i agree with stub as far as what happened in oasis and later. subconsciously he may like to see t'pol gettting all hot and bothered that he was out chasing some alien babe.
since it is a way he has of knowing that something may be lurking in the cool vulcan interior.

now i think what happened in un expected was different.
i think he was really hurt by her comments then.

and if he ever saw just a hint of hurt (remember it doesnt take much for him to read her) then that would probably be the end of his "attempts" at being a tom kat.

I'm not sure Tom Cat (or the Kirk similarity for that matter) is an accurate label. These women seem to initiate the first move. (And what a first move Padme made, huh??) Anyone in their right mind wouldn't resist them, methinks...especially since Trip's technically not bound to anyone...yet.

I'd like to see this Alien-Woman-Throws-Herself-At-Trip in three years and see if he takes the bait. He might not if he has any inkling of having something with T'Pol. Depending, of course, where they're at in three years. If that makes any sense.

you have a point stub and i agree that in the other two cases the women came onto him first.

the point i was trying to make was that if trip saw that in some way his behavior hurt t'pol that he would resist them more.

that is the whole thing .. right now he inst totally sure how she feels.
he isnt totally sure about his feelings.. except some thing is there.

I'm just wondering what T'Pol's reaction to all this will be since he seems to be closer to this one then any of the others.

All I see is that Trip is fully clothed when he kisses this little honey and then later on he's not. Oh dear, we may have *official* hanky panky nookie going on this week. LOL!!

It is to be hoped that the writers will explore T'Pol's reaction to this episode. T'Pol was right there with her opinion in both Unexpected and Oasis. She didn't even let anything develop in Oasis before she weighed in that Trip needed to take precautions.

However, sadly, we are in a new season. Would the T'Pol we have seen so far this season even care that Trip kissed this alien woman? Where is the snarky woman from Unexpected and Oasis?

I'm posting this over at Coffee Break! as well. I'm very concerned about the direction Trip and T'Pol are going. Hey, Bucky, Snugly and I have created this site based on the chemistry between these two characters! I want the intrigue between our duo to continue.

well i originally was a little concerned off and on until singularity..

and it raised some interesting questions and showed a certain level of concern about each other we hadnt seen in ahwile..

Yeah, Singularity was a pleasant surprise for me. For those who missed my analysis, allow me to set your minds at ease.

1. T'Pol summons Trip to her quarters for 'help.'

2. The only thing to tear Trip away from his obsession with The Chair is that call from T'Pol.

3. Trip heard "URGENT" whereas T'Pol said "IMPORTANT."

4. Trip moved The Chair to Engineering so as not to disturb T'Pol on the Bridge.

5. Trip gets pissy when T'Pol prefers to remain in her quarters. His effort, he feels, went unappreciated.

6. Trip turns to leave but T'Pol tries to get him to stay. Is confused that he doesn't want to hang around in the privacy of her quarters to 'help' her with the sensors. Even asks him if he's feeling alright.

7. As if that's not enough, T'Pol goes to seek counsel from Malcolm regarding Trip's behavior.

Ok, so maybe that episode only put *my* mind at ease. I think it's a good thing that Trip and T'Pol aren't arguing all the time. It shows some major growth in their relationship...to me, anyway. Though I'd certainly like to see it on-screen more often. Those silly PTB are afraid to give them a scene together, let alone an entire episode. It's almost funny.

pookha and stub, you have given me hope with your posts! I love the list, stub. I saw the same things you did in Singularity :D. Also, T'Pol DID tell Trip that lovely story in Carbon Creek, in which a Vulcan fell in love with Earth and Earthlings and remained there the rest of his life.

stub, I don't think TPTB expected there to be so much chemistry between Trip and T'Pol, and it scared them. I hope they get over that real quick and give Trip and T'Pol a couple of episodes focused on them and their relationship. Why did they stop arguing so much? Why did they start cooperating? Did they have a major talk and agree on some ground rules? Did each just decide on their own to give a little to keep the peace?

myst, that's exactly what I want to know!! What the bloody hell happened?? One season they're at each other's throats and then suddenly and magically they're getting along and sharing command and stuff. I would have preferred to see some of that negotiation on screen.

Again, I thought the same thing about the Carbon Creek story. Why mention Menstral's affection for the human female? That wasn't really an important part of the story, given that he seemed genuinely curious about *all* the townsfolk and didn't stick around for her anyway. I think T'Pol threw that in there to let Trip know she's not opposed to affections for humans, either. Whether he picks up on it or not is another story. He better...

And I've always thought that the chemistry wasn't expected. CT & JB heat up the screen unintentionally. I think the writers are waiting a while before trying to figure out how to write that into the canon. (much like DD & GA on X-Files) Maybe they think if they ignore it long enough it'll go away. Silly boys, they need some more female writers on their staff.

stub, interesting comparison with Mulder and Scully on X-Files. Didn't Scully have something going on with Skinner (is that his name?) for a season or so, before the writers decided to bring her dynamic with Mulder back into the fold?

Lo Pan, one word: Nope. (You may be thinking when Robert Patrick came on board as Doggett...I think they tried something with that, but it failed miserably.) I was hooked from the pilot of X-Files. I probably know more than I should.

They never wanted any of the Big Three to hook up. It was all supposed to be platonic. Which never really made it past the pilot. Fans, all twenty of us, saw the spark immediately. Writers avoided anything remotely shippy but fans saw it anyway.

Sound familiar?

Eventually the writers caved and *had* to address it. I wish along with Shiban, Enterprise could get Vince Gilligan. He was the best at the M/S shippy stuff...along with some of the best plots ever.

and remember trip was the only one to break out of his obsession period to do something for someone else that didnt involve the obsesession object..

even when trip learned that jon was far more concerned with the preamble to the book trip just tried to ignore it. he certainly didnt go running through the ship to discuss it.
when learn when trip finally shows back up on the bridge that it wasnt because of the "reed alert" (mal even says he hadnt even heard from engineering) but rather to discuss the chair.

and it does make y0u wonder what trip really thought what was going on.

it seemed that she was stunned at the idea that he didnt want to cater to her whims.

yeah i too want to know why there are wokring to well togther. in minefield it was almost uncanny.

When Trip rescues an exotic alien woman from her kidnappers, they find themselves on the run from her captors and, in the process, on an unexpected romantic adventure. i think even if the writers were considering trip and t'pol it would be for like the 3rd or 4th season and things just blew up on them,..

Great screen caps!!! (Phew! Some of them are hot!!!,especially photo no 4!!!) I have seen the video preview for this episode on the official Star Trek website, and the relationship kinda reminds me of the Han Solo/Princess Leia relationship from the Star Wars movies!(Ordinary guy & posh Princess!)

Actually, I've been tossing this idea around in my head for a few weeks now. I just decided to see how Precious Cargo played out and use that to my advantage. I've wanted to explore that for a while and this seems like a golden opportunity to do so.

As a fellow writer whose tried doing this in the past, I must give Stub a warning, be careful.

I'm actually very disappointed with my fic Green because it's very out of charecter for her and I've always strived to make vulcan romance at least believable. The one time I thought I got it right was in another fic I wrote was Chivelry Is Dead but that fic got way too hard since I kept writing myself into a corner.

I'm glad to see someone making the attempt but please be careful cause jealous T'Pol is hard as hell to do!

Thanks, THECURSOR. I liked your story just fine. Vulcans aren't the easiest to write and I think you pulled it off very well.

I'm well aware of how difficult T'Pol is to write, and not just Jealous T'Pol. It's part of the challenge I take on when writing for T/T. The key to T'Pol is subtlety.

And I lost my train of thought...*sigh*

I just had to gloat that here in Canada ( or at least in the Province of Alberta) we get to see Enterprise one day before UPN in the States shows it. But I promise not to give anything away. I haven't been so excited for an episode since this season's premiere.

By the way, excellent discussion that went on at this site. I will try and put in my 2 cents worth sometime again.

I think a jealous Trip would be just as enjoyable as a jealous T'pol. Get the Enterprise to assist a ship in distress, perhaps a yacht belonging to a handsome alien prince. His race are reserved like Vulcans (though still display emotions) & hes a scientist to boot. While Trip's over assisting repairing the ship the alien is shown around the Enterprise by T'pol. Trip comes back to the Enterprise to find his girl in the mess hall listening attentively to the aliens theories about micro singularities & *GASP* shes showing him the delights of Pecan Pie !. Then its on for young & old. Ohh, did I mention Trip is messy from reapiring the yacht ? Also prissy too from a lack of sleep.

I can see it now in my head. My good man, I say you write that fic!

It was nice to find this site, because I'm a U.K. Connor nut, the man is soooo gorgeous! "Precious Cargo" looks wonderful, I keep looking at the pics and the 20 second promo. from the Official Site. We get season 2 starting on the 6th of January 2003- can't wait! Keep up the good work with this site.
