The SeventhAired November 6, 2002 T'Pol wants Trip to be inactive for a few days while she swans off on some secret mission.
And then the truth comes out... ...Trip has a rival.
A whole mess of folks have made commentsyou do not take your potential future love interest along on a dangerous away mission.. if .. a) you are about to confront some real nasty dark secret from your past. especially if you are having repressed memories surfacing . b) c. as mentioned the mission has the potential to be very dangerous. better
to leave your guy back on the ship. especially since you will be too
wigged out to look after him (see the end of mauraders) ---------------- i wonder how long before archer wises up and see the way to make trip back from asking him every other minute what happened is to tell him he will tell his t'pol secret if trip were to tell him. otherwise he should just drop it. :) well at least we got t'pol in a great role and trip playing captain "i will get right back to you" another pookha nuttering.. how did menlos get to her so easily. the whole business of talking about and showing his family seemed to be tied into this. that and playing to her fear that she killed an innocent man. and was the repressed memories resurfacing enough to cause her emotional turmoil or is there something else going on here. hmm Hi, pookha. Perhaps her emotional turmoil is linked to the fact that both men who have drawn her in and made her vulnerable to mental manipulation are both non-traditional Vulcans who are dangerous to her personally. The first one mind raped her and the second managed to make her feel responsible for another's death. Why Menlos knew he could get to her emotionally is a mystery – was he playing to the humans for sympathy and inadvertently realized he got to T’Pol? This episode had similar parallels with Fusion in terms of structure and the roles Trip and T'Pol play: angst and humor. T'Pol discovers something about herself as a Vulcan, and is vulnerable and tortured as a result, while Trip provides the comedy in a subplot. well back in fallen hero t'pol admitted to v'lar that being around humans were effecting her emotions. so it may be just certain crisis points that really bring them out. and v'lar also noticed how difficult it was for t'pol to act as a bridge between both worlds. remember not only are vulcans telepaths they are empathic to a certain degree. good points about the parallels between this episode and fusion. if anyone here is interested in the effects of long term space travel and psychology well i found the following while doing some research on a story based with night in sickbay. i think some of it is interesting in as enterprise is far more cramped then her future namesakes and this is the first true deep space mission for earth. let's just say there is some food for thought. hmm http://www.airandspacemagazine.com/ASM/Mag/Index/1996/JJ/llda.html
i wont feel threatened by t'pols friendship with archer until i see her
contemplating a water polo ball while meditating Love that look she throws Trip across the Round Table. She looks so *guilty*. LOL, pookha and stub! stub - I hadn't thought of her look in that light. I thought she was "chastising" him for not taking her concerns seriously. Yes, she does feel guilty for keeping him in the dark. pookha, this episode shows that the horrible ANIS was a Nightmare in Sickbay. This is the Archer we know - concerned for each member of his crew. Just as he was out on the hull for Reed, he was on that planet for T'Pol. She was finally able to appreciate the honor that a human captain gives his crew, and that she is a member of that crew. She isn't an alien - she is someone he can trust and he is someone she can trust. This episode did advance human/Vulcan understanding on a most fundamental level. OK, anyone care to talk about her apparent fascination for bad boy Vulcans? it isnt so much the bad boys but at first she sees them as being further along a path she may be contemplating following., it is only afterward that she knows the kind of person they really are. you know t'pol has been through a lot .. not just fusion and seven.. in strange new world she is exposed to the pollen like the rest of them (all i see is a delusional engineer.. she screams out) then you have fusion later the torture by the suliban and now this.. no wonder so many emotions came spilling out.. back to 7th the look could have been one of the combination ones.. T'Pol will eventually fill Trip in. But she's waiting for him to open up to her first. It's his turn, now. *waits for it* there is one thing i would like to see.. stub - love the idea that Trip has to open up. He has all the
appearance of being an open personality, but who knows what he is keeping
inside. Think T'Pol is the one to get him to talk? myst, of course I think T'Pol will get him to open up. That's pretty much a given, on my end. ;) How long it actually takes is another story. I'm thinking it'll have to be in a We're-Trapped-Together-Against-Our-Will episode. Trip is just a bit too happy all the time. Pychologically that suggests he's got some deep issues somewhere. I'm betting he and T'Pol find out they have something in common. I'm actually very curious. Another thing I'm curious about is Archer's foreshadowing line: "Even Vulcans fall prey to temptation." Hmm, wonder how that one will come about to haunt T'Pol?? (With Trip, I hope) thanks for adding the extra shots i wouldnt be suprised if some time in the future it is pointed out to trip that for some one who has a lot of people confiding in him he doesnt confide in very many people. there may even be a crisis looming where he will have to.
