The Shipment

The Shipment, aired 10/29/03

zealousgirl's Special Edition Report of The Shipment has been posted.

The Xindi need another shipment of kemocite - at least 100 kilograms. **Cue dramatic music!**

Sigh, T'Pol is told for the 1000 time that Archer's instinct is better than her logic. She kinda zones out when he starts his blathering. (Maybe I'm the one who is zoning out - T'Pol is too polite to do that!)

One day, folks! One day the writers will stop this nonsense and give T'Pol's logic some respect! Don't hold your breath, though. Heaven forbid Archer should actually have respect for the opinions of T'Pol and Malcolm.

Archer needs an analysis as soon as possible. Not *we.* Archer isn't exactly a team player.

The phallic symbol.

The moon foreshortened with Enterprise lurking in its shadow.

The sub-quantum imprint matches the signature of the Xindi probe.

The isotope was used in the weapon which attacked earth. Trip gets permission to take apart the Xindi rifle they have in their possession. Hmm, didn't Archer already tell Trip to take that rifle apart? Don't the writers watch the show? Guess not!

The Xindi-Sloth needs a drink to counter Archer's visit. And who wouldn't?

Finally! Trip asks the question which has puzzled Enterprise fans since the start. Doesn't Archer trust his own people?

NO! Sorry, Trip and T'Pol, to be the bearer of bad news. Unfortunate it took you so long to figure it out. Other Trek captains trust their people, but not Archer - get over it because it doesn't look like he is going to change anytime soon. Moving right along.

Ah! A breath of fresh air! The lovely Trip, who recognizes the expertise of his colleagues. Trip brings Phlox into the examination of the Xindi rifle because of its organic components.

Gotta love Phlox! Not good pet material, but definitely organic. And the organic compounds have strong reproductive capabilities which allow the weapons to immediately repair themselves.

Yay! More biological mystery about the expanse! Another clue. Phlox: "Its neural pathways appear to help modulate the rifle’s power output. It's the most sophisticated example of bio-mechanical engineering I've ever seen." BUT! It is susceptible to a sustained burst of delta radiation. In theory the crew can knock out the reptilian Xindi weapons, but Phlox cautions it will be hazardous to humans.

But omicron radiation is a different matter - the biological technology seems to thrive on that!

Trip and T'Pol mutually decide there is no time to find a deserted astroid to test the weapon's power out on. Neither, apparently, has looked out the window lately and seen that deserted moon. Our duo are so absorbed in each other they cease to absorb their surroundings! Can't blame them, but....

...Phlox assures T'Pol that testing the weapon on board Enterprise is the most logical next step. Trip and Phlox have T'Pol's number! Just use the word logic and she is putty in their hands.

The symbolic breasts - reproductive images to visually join Trip and T'Pol! Gotta love the symbolism.

Sorry, this is about weapons!

Yes, Phlox and Trip will figure out how to neutralize the enemy weapons. T'Pol will be back in an hour to see how Trip has progressed.

Lingering look!

Gralik can't be found.

Malcolm is a graceful man!

He leaps upon that rock and swirls around. Sigh! We need more Malcolm, and especially Malcolm with Trip. Hey, a Malcolm, Trip, and T'Pol away mission! Malcolm can create a dance around Trip and T'Pol which encloses the two into their own world and forces them to confront their feelings. :^)

Ready, Doc?

Ready.

Trip shooting blanks. Sorry! That sexual symbolism is too strong - see it at every turn when Trip and T'Pol are on screen.

Gasp! The weapon is booby trapped!

Nice hand coordination, Trip and T'Pol!

T'Pol: Get rid of the power cell!
Trip: It will only grow back!

YAY!!!! YAY, YAY, YAY, YAY, YAY!!! A human finally told T'Pol she was right about something! Trip tells T'Pol she was right, they probably should have found an empty astroid to test the weapon on. (Still, neither of our two have looked out a window and seen that very vacant moon! Love is very blind indeed!)

How nice, a scene to give Travis and Hoshi some lines. Again, T'Pol doesn't get to talk with either of them, nor do Hoshi and Travis get to talk to each other. Please, writers and directors, allow these characters to actually converse with each other! They are professionals and won't subvert anything by discussing the mission amongst themselves!

A whole mess of folks have made comments

I can see the love between those two. He looked at her with longing as she left the room, and the looks she is giving him and his work? I think we will see something between those two very soon.

CGS

Well, CowgirlSky. . . I wish you were right but I'm pretty sure that it'll be a while before they do get together. Thanks myst for getting these up so quickly. I'm glad you caught the intense look that Trip gave T'pol as he watched her leave the armory. And of course, you found a few of his furrowed brow expressions. But my favorite here is actually of Malcolm on the rocks - he's so graceful, almost cat-like when he's in stealth mode. LOL!

Ah...such beautiful, beautiful screen caps. Thanks so much, Myst. You so rock!

Trip certainly loves to watch T'Pol exit a room. And I dare say she does the same. I like Phlox just looking on knowingly in the background. HA! Does he know something we don't??

Myst, I'm putting in a request for a cap or two of Trip knocking that guy on his ass in the corridor. Please!! That was fantastic!

Yeah that was great stub, I saw that ensign go down and started laughing because he was suprised and you notice he didn't try to get back up I guess Trip hit him on his ass harder than he meant.
Unfortunatly not as much Trip and T'pol in here. *sighs*
Thanks so much to the people who do the screen caps

Lovely caps as usual.

Gosh I love seeing Trip in profile....that nose....*sigh* I'd like to see the guy Trip knocked on his ass as well please if possible.

As always, great caps! Stub, I agree with you. I think, of anyone else on the ship, Phlox knows there is something between them, even if T'Pol and Trip aren't fully aware of it themselves yet. I don't expect to see them both toss together too soon but I'd like to see more in the way of cabin massage visits or something similar again. We need a bit of light heartedness right now. I think we'll get it episode after next with "North Star." Looking forward to Trip and T'Pol sharing a horse. I've read too many romance novels, I think. *g*

Sorry. Last comment was me and I forgot my name. My wig is too tight today. :)

I laughed out loud durring the episode: Trip and T'Pol standing there getting really into their conversation, and you could see Phlox standing behind them, watching with great interest. Notice how they didn't fight, just had a gentle disagreement, and *she* gave in! I wonder if all the neuropressure and stuff is actually some experiment Phlox is running. Wonder if he's keeping a log. ;) Possible fanfic?

Oh yeah, and:

T'pol: "We need to find an uninhabited astroid to test the gun on!"

Trip: "We don't have time!"

Camera pulls back to show Enterprise sitting next to an DEAD, UNINHABITED MOON!!!!

I think our cheif engineer and science officer have lost sight of everything but eachother when they're in same room. They can't even see a BIG HUNK OF ROCK MILES IN DIAMETER!!! But that's why we love them. ;)

LOL TTer on the big dead moon right beside them! I was thinking the exact same thing when he complained about not having time to look for one. hahahahahaha, it really was very funny :-)))

HA! I didn't even notice that one (about the uninhabited asteroid). Maybe Trip and T'Pol just like to bicker now, logic be damned. I do think they get off on it.

Thanks, myst, for the smackdown pics! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

I'm so pathetic, I just love all the scenes between Trip and T'Pol, especially the lingering looks he gives her. I have a feeling our favorite engineer thinks the shapely vulcan is quite pretty. I'm also glad they're not constantly fighting anymore, I sense a real friendship developing between them.

Hmmmm, myst. I sense a strong dislike for Archer. Am I right? :-)

Great, fantastic screen caps! And yes, our duo was too blind to notice that big old moon hanging outside their window!

Believe it or not, plum, I don't mind Archer. The character is OK, but I'm getting very tired of the way he treats the people who work for him. Perhaps, though, that is part of him being a flawed character. If so, I guess I can live with it if the writers address it. However, it is probably just bad writing, with the writers trying to show two sides of an issue by having Archer present the *right* course of action or way of thinking and one of his officers the *wrong* way. Unfortunately, it makes Archer look like he never listens to or trusts the people who work for him.

The writers need to create a sense of community among these characters through the stories - we are supposed to believe there is trust and respect between Archer and his officers, but seldom shown any reasons for it. IMHO, it gets very old after a while and makes Archer look bad.

The truth is that Archer was a badly planed character. Trip and T'Pol were actually the best planned from the very beginning. They have the most conflict with their environments, meaning the most opportunity for character growth and development. The writers/producers failed to notice that they'd left the other characters somewhat flat in that regard (my guess is because none of them are female; women - no offense to any men - are intuitively better at that). So because Trip and T'Pol were so well developed, they're now the easiest to write for and to evolve.

They're trying to get Archer up there with our duo, but they aren't doing a very good job (obviously). "Hm... we need to bring more depth to Archer... I know! Let's make him angry this season." Uh, no. That's not how it works. Emotion is not necissarily depth (example: every Vulcan character thus far has had more depth and less [visible] emotion).

What they did with Hoshi in "Exile", revealing her loneliness (which is a conflict; anger seemingly directed at everything, including people the character's supposed to like, is *not*) was a step in the right direction. That's the kind of thing they need to do with all the characters.

Oh I understand, myst! We're in the same boat believe it or not. Your comments under some of the pictures just cracked me up because I very much agreed with them!

ah
you dont test a weapon on the moon you are hiding behind near an enemy base..

Archer isn't that badly planned. He is a Captain though, and Captains are always alone at the end of the day and they are always right. I guess most of the action has to be Archer dealing with a situation and the writers aren't adept at weaving the others into the story.

Shipboard life is dull though. The only potential for romance around is between Trip and T'Pol, so far. The rest, such as Hoshi/Malcolm are fraught with issues of rank.

Archer should promote Malcolm to Lt.Cmndr and Hoshi to Lt. There should also be more low ranking watch officers and enlisted men introduced. A show on T'Pol dealing with typical discipline problems among the crew would be interesting.

I love the comments! Always!
