Somebody is watching

Rating: PG
Genre: Humour, General
Summary: Two persons watch their favourite sci-fi soap opera.

Two figures stood in front of a huge glowing bowl. Leaning over the rim, they watched the images constantly change. It was not possible to make out how the beings looked. Everything was silent, one could only hear the noises that were sent forth from the bowl, until one of the figures nudged his companion.

“Ah, did you see that? She kissed him!”

“Yes, That was really sad, wasn’t it? Especially that look on his face. And now she is going to marry that moron?”

“You know at first I thought this would be a real turning point in their relationship--why else would she invite him to her home? In the last few years everything I have watched between them pointed to it. I waited so long to see them to get together.”

“I know, I know. I was hoping for that, too. I think there was something between them from the start. I mean he was clearly attracted to her.”

“Absolutely, have you seen how his hands lingered on her longer then needed and the way he touched her ears?”

“Who hasn’t?”

“But don’t you agree that everything changed between them after he read her letter?”

“Well, I have to, but there had to be something on her side already. Why else would she behave so curiously when he was impregnated by that alien engineer?”

“You’re right, but who knows how Vulcans are thinking?”

“Brrrr, I don’t want even to imagine it. Vulcans are so dull, always calculating the risks. Don’t they know about fun? Do you remember the fun we had with this Surak guy?”

“Don’t remind me. I still have to laugh about his expression when you pulled his ears during his meditations. He nearly forgot to keep his Vulcan attitude. With such a guy as their philosophical leader, it’s no wonder they don’t know how to have fun.”

“Anyway, she knows what fun is.”

“Definitely, he did his best to show her. After all those movie nights and his other attempts to gain her attention she must know it. Do you think she would have thought it was something funny what happened on Risa? I still can’t believe that they got mugged so easily.”

“I can believe it. The observations I made over the last three years showed me that human men tend to think solely with their lower half of the body.”

“It’s a surprise they could develop this far when you consider all humans seemed to be focused on is...”

“Aww, don’t say it! Have you ever watched them doing it? It’s so disgusting. There you can see the biggest difference between them and us. We do it on a more spiritual level – if we ever do it, I can’t remember the last time – however theirs is so.... and just so…ugh.”

“True, true, but have you watched them? Well, I haven’t watched all the time, but there was something to it. Something more than what we see normally.”

“Really? I just saw them the next morning. She pretended that there was nothing except of her curiosity, calling it an experiment.”

“An experiment? And here goes ‘Vulcans do not lie’ up in smoke. It didn’t look to me like that. If it meant nothing to her, why would she end up with him when they were thrown back in time? If what she said was true, why marry him? Have a child? There were other human men who would have liked to take his place.”

“I think I know who you mean, but who would want to see that?”

“Well, not me.”

“Me neither. There was definitely something on her side of this experiment. Why else would she invite him to her home? She didn’t have to invite him, still she did.”

“And he shouldn’t have accepted it in my opinion. He only got his heart broken.”

“Oh, I don’t know, this is an important event in their relationship. He realises that he loves her.”

“OK, for him it maybe important, but for her?”

“You just haven’t looked closely enough. As the proper Vulcan female she was raised, you don’t invite a male and least of all a human to your home, unless you want to introduce him to your family. The fact she did just makes it important.”

“If you put it that way, you could be right.”

“I am right--even her mother noticed there was something. Remember what she said about having children?”

“Stop it, ok? You are right. Satisfied?”

“Not entirely, but it will suffice.”

“Look the wedding is over. Should we go watch what will happen next?”

“He will go back to the ship, and she will spend the next two weeks meditating. Nothing really interesting if you ask me.”

“Hm, not much action, he? Will it change between them in the near future?”

“Unfortunately, no.”

“You think I could let the moron....”

“No, he will be out of her life soon enough and not by dying.”

“What a pity!”

“I know something that will sidetrack you. Let’s watch this guy that Q always visits. It will be something different.”

They turned away from the bowl, the light and the noises faded, before them a path appeared. It led to a blurred, door-sized brightness.

“You mean this old, bald man whose uniform doesn’t seem to fit? Well, why not... Do you know if they get a lucky end sometime?”

“They call it happy ending, not lucky. Hm, maybe we could help them a bit in the future, he? Now let’s look at what notre capitaine is doing. We can go to that later.”

i'm first well done me, excellent all these questions and answers where going through my mind when the relationship between TnT became obvious, wonderful take on things love the ending and your right about the uniform it never seemed to fit him right

Very clever. I always enjoy the Q POV.

I liked this! It had a kind of suspense like in who are these guys? Got a clue and laughed at "the fun we had with this Surak guy". At least they are only trickster aliens and not malevolent aliens. So why isn't this piece in the POV challenge as the Q discovery of the T&T relationship?

UniQue perspective!

You are so right, Linda! That's exactly what this is. Cool. : )

Interesting

OH this was fun. Good job!!

Loved it! gerat way to look at everything that happened overall!

I really liked the way you took something as simple as POV and twisted it on it's ear, made for an unique perspective, an interesting read and a few laughs...reminds me of the beginning to 'it's a wonderful life' with the angels reviewing George Bailey's life. There's plenty more of the story to tell...Hop to it! :o)
