Archer sat in the command chair looking about his now peaceful bridge. It was day shift, usually a time of much flurry. But today as it had been for the last week or so, tensions were low and productivity was high. Travis busied himself reviewing star charts, checking and rechecking his headings. Hoshi ran intermittent scans of the surrounding star systems for indications of intelligent life forms. Reed monitored his panel, checking shield reserves and photon inventories. And T’Pol was heavily involved in plotting new star chart destinations.

The only difference on the bridge was Trip. Although Trip often was at his station beside Lieutenant Reed, he rarely spent an entire shift there. Only combat could drag him away from his precious engines. Archer often thought of investigating the strange bond this man and his machine seemed to share, however he thought better to leave it alone as he remembered how his dad had the same affection for that large pulsing piece of metal.

Lately though, if Trip wasn’t in engineering polishing his engine....he was on the bridge “assisting” our resident Vulcan science officer. And today was no different, because there he was standing just behind her chair, bending over her to look into the viewer. At a quick glance it was hard to tell where his body stopped and hers began.

(They’re not hiding it very well.) He thought with a quiet chuckle and went back to examining the data pad of the last two star systems they mapped this week.

As for the rumor mill, stories of their antics were flying. The crew hadn’t had this much entertainment since movie night got better films. Stories of elicit rendezvous in different parts of the ship were common dinner talk. There was even the outrageous story of some mischievous sex atop the warp reactor. Nothing substantiated however, just rumors. The Enterprise had it own first couple and everyone wanted in on the dirt.

Reed’s light hearted teasing of Trip didn’t help. Statements like...”He’s gone over to the dark side.” And “Once you go Vulcan...you never go back” brought both scornful looks and mischievous smiles from the young engineer that tried hard to keep things under wraps if only for T’Pol’s sake.

Trip hadn’t quite got the hang of their bond yet either. Where T’Pol belied no evidence of their closeness, speaking to him privately through their thoughts, Trip would occasionally forget and whisper something private aloud. Unfortunately Hoshi’s ears were as sensitive if not more so than T’Pol’s and she usually pick up every word. At times his words to the young alien would even make her blush.

Needless to say when it was time to plan Trip’s surprise party, Hoshi went right to the source..... T’Pol. Not knowing the rules of such a gathering, T’Pol simply asked Trip through their bond what he would like, then relayed the message...all except the part about “T’Pol having ruined the surprise.”

***Back in their cabin after dinner...Actually T’Pol’s cabin, but Trip had practically moved in. Or at least that was the impression Crewman Fuller got from his comings and goings at all hours of the morning. But not to worry, she was discreet. T’Pol had finished meditating and was waiting for Trip, who had joined the Captain earlier to watch national finals of a water polo tournament. ........“Fresh off the wire that morning”.

The room was lit by candlelight and a soft aroma of incense wafted through the air. T’Pol sat, for once at peace with her mind and spirit. Her emotions, though not completely controlled, no longer warred with her. She learned through Trip what to work on and what to let go. That, it would seem was the Human’s secret to dealing with their own emotions.

Her meditation was completely restful and refreshing. Even with the occasional cheers and shouts of her over exuberant bond mate. But what got to T’Pol’s heart, was the (“Sorry Darlin.'”) that followed every time he realized he’d disturbed her.

Trip was a wonderfully sweet man. Caring , kind, supportive and open. T’Pol couldn’t imagine any Vulcan being so eager to please.... not even Koss.

(I don’t know if we hadn’t gotten pushed back through time....., that Trip and I would have married, but..... I can’t imagine what my life would have been like without him.) The older T’Pol’s words kept running through her mind. She only now appreciated just how understated that comment had been.

(“Follow your heart.”) again the memory came vividly back to her.

“I always do.” in stepped Trip using the access code T’Pol had programmed for him. He walked over to her where she sat on the mats. Bending he gave her a kiss on the lips and watched as her usually rigid features softened.

“Hey Darlin', Sorry I’m late... Cap’n made me watch the ending 4 times.” he saw a puzzled look.

“It was a close game.....you know.... instant replay....” He saw it still didn’t register. “Take my word for it,.... you had to see it more than once to catch what happened.”

He moved in to sit behind her and wrapped his arms lovingly about her frame. “So Hoshi’s planning my surprise party?” Trip nuzzled his face in her silky brown strands. This always brought a shiver through their bond that he just adored.

“You know....” his words trailed off as his lips brushed her hair. “the term surprise party, usually entails that the recipient doesn’t know about it until it happens.”

“I apologize....I can tell Hoshi you are aware of her plans and she can cancel them if you wish.” T’Pol’s eyes were closed, her breathing soft and rhythmic.

“Nah...I’ll just act surprised when the time comes.” A soft smirk came to his lips. “You do know I have a birthday comin' up?” He joked testing her.

“Yes... March 27th, you will be 35 years of age.”

“Hey..... Watch it....my age is considered.....intimate...” The smirk grew larger.

“I will remember that....I will tell no one.” Her wit had become more apparent even if her voice didn’t betray the emotion.

“When’s your birthday anyway.... I already know your age, but nobody can seem to tell me the date.” He leaned around her to the left to look his beloved in the face.

“Earth calendars don’t have the same dates as Vulcan’s. Vulcan has more days per year than Earth. Its’ orbit takes longer due to its’ binary suns.”

(Okay more information than I wanted....) “Well than when would it be this year on our calendar?”

T’Pol thought a moment then answered. “the 30th day of July.”

“Okay and how did you come up with that date.” T’Pol looked at him questioningly. Surely she would know what day her birthday was.

“I mean....how many more days does Vulcan have per year.... you know so I can feed the information into the computer and plot out your birthdays for the next 50-60 years ‘er so....”

“Or I could simply tell you every year...” She answered trying to simplify things.

“No way.....a real boyfriend remembers an important day like that all by himself.....” He saw her puzzlement again.

“It shows you care....its’.... romantic.....” frustrated he added.... “Don’t worry, I want to take care of it. Now how many days difference?”

“38.”...... It amazed her at how important figuring out this date was to him.

“Any leap years I should know about?” T’Pol just shook her head.

“Good..... So this year you’re a Leo.....”

“I beg your pardon?”

“You know... Leo the lion....the zodiac...” Trip smiled wondering what T’Pol must think of all his ramblings. She didn’t seem to say much about it, but there were times in their bond when her thoughts were more precious than any words she could say.

“You know I hear Leo’s are incredible love makers...fierce and masterful in bed” he grinned.

(“Interesting,...the same has been said of Vulcan females.” ) T’Pol looked around at Trip’s gaze

“Don’t I know it.”

With that, T’Pol turned to face Trip. Kneeling before him, she moved forward lowering to all fours as she edged him back into a prone position. She hovered over him... stalking his thoughts with her intentions, running her body slowly up his until their mouths were a whisper apart.

Trip’s breathing grew rapid and ragged. His heart raced and he could feel the weakness in his legs as her advances took a controlling position.

(“You’re all mine.”) An incredibly powerful statement coming from the mind of a woman with no emotions.

“Yes ma’am,” was all the young man could muster as her mouth took his in a hot passionate kiss.

***Trip woke up on the floor, covered by the blanket from their bed. T’Pol had risen and from the sound of it was in the shower. He shook off the hangover that bond mate sex always gave him. No headache, just an incredibly weak and disorienting feeling from pure happiness. He laughed as he remembered her describing to him about what Vulcan’s considered as third base. The first time he experienced it, Trip wondered if his head would explode, not that he was in any mood to care. It was incredible.

(Malcolm was right,) He thought “Once you go Vulcan.... you never go back”.

It was the morning after they shared her quarters for the first time. T’Pol’s theory was partially right. The dreams that night were not totally gone, but they were of a sweeter, more caring nature. Not the mind blowing, sweaty, heart pounding sexual encounters that they had been. Both arose after a few hours to a strange comfort from deep within. Their minds were bonded, now there were no limits to the sharing that could happen. Sex hadn’t come up in the conversation the night before, but it was on both their minds. Sipping on some tea Trip retrieved from the galley, both sat in her quarters and continued their talk.

“Tell me more about this bond of ours. What can it do?”

“Everything...” she replied simply.

“Everything... you mean even.....?” He still felt uncomfortable using the proper term for it. “sexual relations...”

“Yes...of course.” she replied as if it was crucial.

“You mean we could have mind sex....ual relations?” He chuckled a bit

“If you wish to, or you may simply use it to enhance the Human sexual experience.”

“The Human sexual experience.....what Vulcans don’t......?”

“Of course they do... but we take it to a greater level than Humans...”

“There’s something more than...sex?” Now the engineer was truly amazed.

“Yes... for Vulcans....Sexual relations is just the beginning.”

“Wait a minute... Where can you possibly go from .......sex?”

T’Pol thought a moment then tried her best to get Trip to understand.

“Sex....as you call it does not start with intercourse.” Trip winced a bit at her ease with technical terms about an intimate act. “It starts usually with kissing, then it progresses to touch... followed by other forms of stimulation and then...”

“Yeah.... Yeah” he cut her off hastily. “I’m familiar with the process. On Earth guys call it covering the bases.” Now it was T’Pol’s turn to look confused.

“It refers to baseball...... It’s a game on Earth....... First base is kissing...second base is touching... Third is .....stimulation and Fourth base or a home run is...... well you know.”

(Okay. A common reference point.) T’Pol continued.

“Well based on that, the Human sexual experience would be about second base for Vulcans.”

“Second Base!” Trip exclaimed more astonished than he ever thought he could be. (What do Vulcan males have..... some kind of extra appendage?)

That thought garnered a slightly bemused look from T’Pol

“No they don’t.”.... Her tone remained even. “Vulcans simply take it to the next level using their minds.”

“Oh like a mind meld?”

“No actually not. We control our minds to elicit the desired reaction from our partner.”

“And Humans can’t do this...?”

T’Pol thought a moment.... “I don’t see why not... with effort and much practice. It is a projection of positive thoughts onto those around you.”

“Like the saying.... if you feel pretty...people will see ya as pretty.”

“Yes... very similar.” she marveled at his quick insight.

“So how does it work for us..... I mean... how would I go bout....” he trailed off wondering if he was moving their renewed intimacies along to fast.

T’Pol looked at his face earnestly. She considered the thoughts that were tormenting him,...... then slowly she closed her eyes. When she opened them again, there was a heavy vale of passion in them as they rose, followed along his body and met Trip’s. He felt a sudden warm rush enter at the level of her eyes and flow upward with her gaze. Even more astonished was the feeling of arousal that would quickly become evident if he didn’t get control of his feelings. He rested his cup over his obvious reaction to this sensation.

Holding his gaze.... T’Pol leaned into his body. She removed the cup from his hand, setting it and her own on the floor. Moving back to the slightly embarrassed young man.... she whispered. “This is third base...”

From that moment on, their sexual relations were a blur of raging hormones and heavy breathing. Trip at times thought his dreams of her were tame compared to the actual event, not that he was complaining. With a mere thought, T’Pol could have him ready for any sexual escapade she so desired and there was nothing.... absolutely nothing he could do about it. Later he would learn that she was merely reflecting his own sexual desire for her back at him, amplifying it to a level that even humans could pick up on.

(Nice Trick ! ) He thought... (I knew that seven year thing was a crock.)

Although in all fairness to T’Pol, she did explain to him that the seven year cycle or “the seven year itch” as he liked to called it, only referred to reproduction, not to their intimate relations.

Pon’Farr...yea that’s the term she used.

Pon’Farr, T’Pol explained was even more intense than their current interactions and Trip wondered if he would survive it. One thing was certain.... when they found his dead body...he would have one hell of a smile on his face.

Trip rolled over onto his hands and knees, then pushed himself into a standing position. Dropping the blanket, he shuffled into the bathroom and joined his beloved in the shower.

(Nice and hot... just like I like it....) He smiled at her glazy eyed appearance.

(I know........... Ready for round two?)

Very good i like the laid back approch

veru good funny too

I loved the notion that if T'Pol killed Trip with the intensity of sex through their bond he'd have one hell of a smile on his face! Yep, I can live with that - Ali D :~)

Thanks for the feedback. The section I am writing now addresses their first Pon Farr. I don't think it will kill him, but he will definitely walk funny for a while. T.

Nice one. Are you writing more? I do hope so.

I love this story!!!!!!
Write a sequel, please.

I liked this story. Why can't the 'real' writers on Enterprise give us stories this good? We wouldn't have to worry about the longevity of the show. One quibble, though; 'elicit sex' is wrong. 'Elicit' means to provoke a response. 'Illicit sex' is what you meant. Watch those homophones or we'll make you go hunt a bare (always possible with this bunch)!

That was great. Can't wait for that Pon Farr, that should be good! :)

That was great! Thanks for sharing your story.
