Part Three

The crowd was insane. There were thousands hovering around them just trying to get a look at these human fighters. Trip tried everything he could to keep the anger and hate down as it surged in his blood. It was the hardest thing just to stay calm around these people. He silently thanked T’Pol for being so damn stubborn about teaching him a few calming techniques. If it hadn’t been from what she taught him he’d never have been able to handle this. But he wouldn’t keep this calm for long.

He could feel the strong emotions choking out any of the good ones. For the first time in his life his feelings for T’Pol were the only thing fighting back the negative emotions. It used to be the other way around not but two years ago when they’d first met. He focused on his love for her. He focused on her beauty in his mind… picturing her as best he could and picturing that night as well. He’d do anything to keep himself from the hate and anger desperately trying to swallow him whole.

He moved his arms up as hands moved to touch him. “No! Don’t touch them! They may bite your hands!” laughed Ja’hian as he escorted them to their destination. Trip glared at the man and looked back at the crowd that had heeded his warnings. Then he looked back at Archer was chained up just as he was but he was struggling against them.

Trip frowned at the anger in his best friend’s eyes. “Cap’n! Calm down! Everythin’ will be just fine… T’Pol will be here soon.”

His friend glared at him. “You call this fine? I can’t even keep control anymore! We don’t know if T’Pol will come or not!” his captain almost screamed. The captain then cut himself on the chain. “Dammit!” The serum was getting stronger and stronger… soon the captain would be blinded by the anger he felt. Trip could feel the anger in himself as well… it was growing… it was as if the serum was simply stimulating these emotions… no reason for the anger… it was just there.

Trip sighed and then turned back around to look at the chains on him. It was no use. His friend was apparently more affected than he was. Too bad T’Pol didn’t show him a few calming techniques to keep him calm. He was steadily losing all control already. Trip took another calm breath and closed his eyes to imagine her once again. He then imagined all his rage… all his hate and watched as his love for T’Pol and his hate battled. It was another technique given to him by T’Pol. And bless that woman it was working! From what he over heard when the doctor and his nurse were talking they had an hour and a half before the serum would take it’s full effect. That didn’t give them much time. Trip looked up at the sky and sighed. “Ya better get here soon T’Pol… we don’t have that much time left.”

T’Pol cocked her head as she looked through the view screen at the strange world before them. They had followed the alien vessel’s ion trails, which had led them to this world. It was very aesthetically pleasing for a planet that seemed to be promoting fights. Ever since they’d entered the system all anyone could talk about was these… cage matches. They’d spoke with nearly ten ships and each would say the same thing. They were here to see the cage matches and these new creatures that would be featured.

She soon put the pieces the together when she realized the main event would be two humans… her humans. T’Pol sighed rather uncharacteristically and then stood. “Ensign… prepare to enter orbit. The doctor and I are going to take a visit down to their world. Mr. Reed come with us… we will be using the transporter.”

“The transporter?” Malcolm questioned.

T’Pol nodded. “They would notice the shuttle pod… I simply want to see what’s going on for now.”

Malcolm nodded before following her off the bridge.

Trip paced back and forth in his cell as he heard the angered shouting of his companion in the cell next to him. “Jonathan you're not helpin’ here!” Trip shouted at his captain through the clear glass.

His captain simply glared at him before grabbing a chair and throwing it at him. Of course it instead hit the glass and fell to the floor broken and battered. Trip sighed before moving to a corner and sitting down tucking his legs under him. He moved his head to rest on his knees and closed his eyes. His control was almost gone. It had been torn away almost completely and now he was hanging off the side trying to keep his grasp on the love he had for the woman of his dreams.

It was getting harder and harder every second. He opened his eyes for just a second and felt a tear roll down his face and fall to the floor. No! He didn’t want to lose her! He couldn’t give up this easily. He had to keep fighting… keep fighting! Trip felt more tears fall as he began to shake. “T’Pol,” he whispered through the sobs. Fear soon became just as strong as his love for her… he was afraid. Afraid of himself. “T’Pol… I need you.”

T’Pol looked around at her surroundings as soon as Malcolm Reed beamed her and the doctor down. The lieutenant had said he could get them rather close to both the captain and Commander Tucker. Since most of the power was being used to make sure no one could get to the ‘fighters’ they were able to beam down easily. Power was also being fed to the place where the cage match would be held.

How barbaric. Thankfully apparently her ‘looks’ were an excellent advantage. She’d asked one of the people in charge of the ‘festivities’ if she and a friend could come to match and he had been hesitant… still he sighed and said for her because of her beauty he would allow it. T’Pol took out her scanner and tried to find their life signs but the scanner wasn’t picking up anything.

T’Pol put her scanner back and looked around to find herself in some type of lab. She then looked at the doctor who was already beginning to explore. “We should keep a low profile. We need to get out of here.”

The doctor nodded. “Of course.”

The two moved out slowly paying careful attention to who was around. Because of her hearing she was able to anticipate if a person was drawing closer. There had been a few close calls but they had managed to leave the large lab. It was then that she saw him. He was tucked in a corner shaking… next to his cell was the captain throwing things at the walls. Finally Tucker got up and began to throw things at the walls as well towards Archer’s cell. “Shut up!”

T’Pol grabbed her weapon and looked at the doctor. “Stay here,” she commanded him before moving up towards the guards. She aimed her weapon just as soon as she had a clear shot and pulled the trigger. The first guard fell to the floor alerting the others of a threat. They all moved their weapon up and began to look for this intruder. Unfortunately they were facing the wrong direction. She shot three more just as the forth one jumped behind a wall. She didn’t have time for this! She couldn’t let him alert others of her presence. She moved from the wall and shot at the forth guard until finally he hit the ground.

Once he was down she ran to the cell and without thinking opened the cell door holding Tucker hostage. As soon as the door was open she took one step inside and put her weapon back in its place. “Mr. Tucker.”

Tucker turned with one swoop to look at her. His eyes were wide and he was breathing hard. He let out a loud cry before charging her to the surprise of T’Pol. She had no time to react as he jumped her and they fell to the floor because of the impact. Her head hit the ground hard and she could feel the pain shoot through her. She winced before moving her hands to push him off of her. He flew back because of her strength and hit the ground hard passing out immediately.

Doctor Phlox ran over to her his worry showing through. “Are you all right Sub-Commander?”

T’Pol moved into a sitting position. “I am fine doctor… we must get the commander to the lab we just left. Something is wrong with him.”

Phlox nodded. “I can see that… come along.” With that he helped her up and then moved over to the commander. “Well there is good news… you didn’t kill him.”

T’Pol’s eyebrows rose. “I wouldn’t call that good news doctor,” she muttered annoyingly while rubbing her shoulder.

Phlox chuckled.

As soon as both the commander and the captain were restrained on the beds in the lab she moved to the commander’s side. His breathing was completely abnormal and he was sweating quite profusely. “Is he going to be all right doctor?”

Phlox nodded smiling. “He’ll be fine. I think I’ve figured out what it is affecting him.” Phlox looked down at his scanner then back up at the commander. “There’s definitely something in his blood stream causing all of this. If I can find a way to counteract this serum he should be fine other than the bruises you gave the commander while trying to stop him from killing you.”

T’Pol frowned then grabbed her com unit. . “T’Pol to Mr. Reed. Lock on to the life signs of Commander Tucker and Captain Archer. Get a security team there to escort them to the brig. They are… being affected by something.”

“Acknowledged,” was Mr. Reed’s reply.

T’Pol watched as the two officers dematerialized only to end up materializing in front of her once again. “T’Pol to Reed… what’s happened?”

“I can’t do it… I can lock on but something won’t let me beam them out. I’ll have to run a few scans… I think it might have something to do with what the transporter found in their system. Some type of implant would be my guess.”

T’Pol exhaled softly. “Understood… T’Pol out.”

T’Pol looked over at the commander once again just as Doctor Phlox moved to his side. “This should help… I found it in the database. Apparently in the event that something happens they made sure to make something to counteract the serum.” He then moved a strange metal much like a hypospray to the commander’s neck. The metal made the same hiss as something went into his system. Tucker shook and struggled against the restraints his breathing quickening for only a few minutes before he finally began to slow down. A few minutes later he stopped trying to fight the restraints.

T’Pol walked to his side and Phlox watched him closely. “Commander?”

Trip looked up at her… he suddenly looked very tired. A smile soon appeared on his face after he had gotten a chance to look at her. “T’Pol? Is that really you?”

She moved her hand into his. “Judge for yourself.”

Soon the commander was grinning. “You came… T’Pol, I wanna go home.”

“And you will Mr. Tucker… you will.”

It was then that Phlox chimed in. “Commander, do you know anything about these people who kidnapped you?”

Trip sighed. “Only that they love these cage match things. They injected this serum in our blood stream to make us more… volatile. I tried fighting it using some of the techniques you taught me T’Pol but after a while it just wouldn’t work anymore. I could feel the hate and anger takin’ over me… and there was nothin’ I could do. I’ve never felt so scared in my life!”

T’Pol moved her hand into his. “You have no need to fear anymore. We will be taking you home shortly.”

Phlox nodded before preparing another dosage for the captain just as the doors opened and two guards moved their weapons up as soon as they spotted them. Both Phlox and T’Pol ducked behind one of the beds and T’Pol took out her weapon. The guards were careful to avoid shooting the commander as they made their attack on T’Pol and the doctor. T’Pol peaked out to use her weapon but had to jump back when more phaser fire flew past her. She took in a breath and kept it there as she jumped out again and aimed his weapon at them. She shot one then jumped back behind the bed as the other began firing.

T’Pol looked up at the commander then peaked from the bed to see the guard. She moved her weapon to point at him and pulled the trigger. He fell to the floor on his companion. T’Pol let out a sigh of relief. “We must get out of here. Give the captain your injection.”

“We can’t leave… there’s something inside their blood stream stopping us from transporting them. We must stay here.”

T’Pol frowned he was right. But more guards would come once they saw that both Mr. Tucker and the captain were missing. “We need a place to hide until you can figure out how to transport Tucker and the captain. Try to be careful. I will find a place to take the captain and the commander.” Phlox was about to say something more but was interrupted as yet another guard appeared but before T’Pol could do a thing he fired and T’Pol fell to the floor instantly.

This is turning out to be an exciting story! Loved the idea of Trip using techniques learned from T'Pol to keep from being overwhelmed by feelings of hate and anger. Looking forward to the next chapter!

This is really good but gulp, now they've shot T'Pol! What we need is a good Armoury Officer bursting into the place with his team and flattening the lot of them. Hopefully before anything bad happens to Trip or the Captain. On the other hand... Ali D :~)

Took me a bit to get into this story, but now I'm intrigued by what's going on. We have Trip who's managed to stave off the effects of the drugs due in large part to T'Pol's teachings. Archer hasn't had that benefit, and his rage and anger is out of control. Now, you've got me thinking T'Pol's going to be injected and w/ her issues w/ control, things aren't looking so rosy for our couple.

Where's Mal? He would seriously set these people straight.

Hurry up! You can't leave them there like that! :D Loving the story. Keep writing!
