A/N: I just couldn’t help it! I tried, I fought… obviously not long… but I did fight it! But NO my muse wouldn’t let me NOT do this story! Damn muse! Oh, and thanks to DAK, my beta, for the excellent correction, and for putting up with me!

***************************************

T’Pol would have run down those corridors if she could have. She would have bolted down them so fast Doctor Phlox wouldn’t have known what happened. She would have… but she was Vulcan. It was always ‘she was Vulcan!’ Every time something like this happened, and she could feel an emotion begging her to action, she would have to remind herself of that. Never before, though, had she hated being reminded as much as she did now.

The science officer almost sighed in relief when finally the sickbay doors opened, with a pleased Captain Archer standing inside waiting for them. When she saw Tucker’s gaze on hers, a slight smile there before it disappeared, she wondered if he had heard the Captain speak of wanting to be notified if he awoke. She could feel the small tinge of green in her face and tried desperately to push it away as the Doctor scanned his two patients. Archer walked to stand with her as they waited. “You know… I put my hand on Trip’s chest. He looked like he was just struggling to take one more breath… until finally it seemed like he just couldn’t anymore. I could feel his chest fall for the last time. I thought it was over.”

T’Pol closed her eyes, trying to stop any tears from coming down at the thought. “He looks well,” she said, before seeing Archer’s smirk. “They both look well,” she added.

T’Pol watched as Phlox tried to explain what happened before finally giving up, admitting his confusion. T’Pol tried to help by explaining that the virus obviously was far more unpredictable than they’d first thought. The Captain seemed quite excited to see his friends alive. He talked to them before smiling and agreeing to help the doctor take Hoshi to a bio bed far away. She knew they were trying to give her time to talk with Trip. She glared at them both as they helped Hoshi walk to the other bio bed, talking with her there. T’Pol took in a breath and turned to look at him. He looked down for a moment, unable to really look at her. “I gotta admit, whether I showed it or not… I’d given up long ago. I suppose I was just too stubborn to show it.”

“We knew you would survive. You are… too stubborn to die, Mr. Tucker.” T’Pol of course had doubted he would live, but had tried to fight the thoughts because it would only play into her fear of losing him. She still had a ways to go before she could completely suppress all the many emotions he could ignite in her.

Tucker laughed at her statement. “There was a time when that was true, T’Pol, but it seems like so long ago now, I’m afraid.” T’Pol could see his eyes close and knew he was referring to the Expanse. Though he had gotten through his sisters death, she knew the issues were still there, and would probably never leave. He’d lost part of himself in that Expanse… they all had. “So what did ya want to talk to me about T’Pol? The Cap’n said you’d wanted to talk to me if I awakened.”

T’Pol hesitated. She couldn’t possibly say what she was about to say knowing he would die! Their relationship was still on hold, where it would stay for now. To tell him what she was going to tell him… that would only prove to make the Commander feel worse now that there was no relationship. T’Pol shook her head at the thought of telling him. For now it would have to remain a secret, though she wondered silently if he already knew her secret… about her feelings for him. “I was simply going to tell you… that I… I…” T’Pol struggled to say. What was she going to tell him?

Trip seemed to notice her struggle and laughed. “You can’t even say it!”

“I simply wanted to tell you that you would be missed… by all,” she finally said.

“I knew it! I knew you’d try to find some way to get outta tellin’ me the truth! You can’t even tell me what you were going to say, cause I know THAT wasn’t it!” She knew he found this to be more amusing than annoying. She could see it by the twinkle in his eye.

“I assure you that was what I was going to tell you.”

“No it wasn’t,” he fought, still chuckling.

“Yes, Commander, it was.”

“Then why’d ya stumble through it?” he then asked, stumping her for a small moment. His arms folded as he waited for her to answer.

“I… I… was still in shock upon seeing you were well,” she finally said.

Tucker shook his head at her, not believing a word. He was far too smart to believe such a thing. “You’re severely full of it, ya know that T’Pol? SEVERELY full of it.”

Both knew what she was going to say. It was in her eyes, where he could read her better than anyone. Finally T’Pol sighed, trying to hide her amusement. “I am… pleased to see you alive and well, Trip.”

Trip took her hand in his, and smiled affectionately at her. “I know, T’Pol. I know.” At that he jumped down from his bio bed and slowly leaned in. She knew he was going to kiss her. Still, she couldn’t pull away. She just couldn’t, with his eyes staring back at her. Then finally they met, lips gently caressing lips.

“Commander Tucker!”

T’Pol jolted away from him as they looked at the Doctor and Captain Archer looking their way. The green tinge returned and T’Pol cleared her throat, trying to get herself together. “I should return to the bridge. Captain, Doctor… Commander,” she acknowledged before turning and leaving the three.

Trip sighed and sat back on the bio bed, glaring at the two men before him. Both had smiles on their faces. “Well Commander, you look well. I suppose I should join T’Pol,” said Jonathan, not even trying to hide his smile. He then walked to the door before turning back to look at Trip. “T’Pol sure was very kiss… uh kind to come and see you, eh Commander Tucker?” he said laughing before he finally walked out the door.

Tucker’s face turned bright red as the Doctor walked towards him. “I suppose now would be the best time to tell you that even once you are discharged from here it probably would not be a good idea to do anything… rigorous for a few days,” the Doctor teased in his own sick way. Soon Trip’s face moved to purple as he rolled his eyes and groaned loudly.

Loved it too. Thank you. More please!!

That was cute. IF I were Trip I would have wanted to slap Phlox and the Captain up side their heads!

So sweet! I wish they actuallt had that scene on the show.

That was great. I wish they actually had that scene in the episode.

sweeeeeet... thanks!

Now this is my kind of T and T at their sweetest. Lovely treatment; wonderfully in character. This scene needed to be on the show! It demands it.

I loved it! I knew there should have been some extra TnT at the end!

Very nice, and right in character for both of them. Thanks for posting this!

I loved it. This was what I wanted after OE.
