A/N: Kinda sad, with a hair of a silver lining… I hope. And thanks TL for ya beta! Hope this one makes it. LOL. My inspiration for this writing: Maxwell | Now | Silently, And our most beloved couple…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was the saddest day of his life. There stood the woman that meant so much to him, the one who had some how touched him to the core of his being, leaving him forever marked by her essence, and she was getting married. However, Trip had decided firmly that he would respect and honor her wishes. ‘I’ll be there for her no matter what.’ He would be a good and loyal friend.
‘Look at her, she’s beautiful. I know I’ll never find another like her. If eyes are the gateways to the soul, then mine must be blue pools of sorrow. God! I love her! why did it take me so damned long ta figure that out? I tried to declare my feelings for her. But the words just wouldn’t come out right, like it’s beyond words.’
Trip willed for T’Pol to understand how he felt for her, hoping that somehow she understood. ‘I’m no telepath,’ he thought as he silently tried to convey to her the depth of love he felt. Reflecting on his very happily married parents , he remembered how they could often speak without a word. What his folks had was somethin’ special. He also remembered promising himself he’d share that kind of connection with someone one day.
Koss entered, establishing that he was claiming his mate: he banged the gong to call on those present to witness his right to her. Trip noticed T’Les and Koss’s mother enter next, followed by the extended family of aunts, uncles, grandparents etc. Trip would be the last to enter.
Knowing she would be next, his body became ridged and tense. Trips breath quickened in anxiety, his hands moistened with sweat. He closed his eyes momentarily to compose himself taking deep steadying breaths. He allowed calm to wash over him.
The moment T’Pol approached the entryway, his eyes opened and fixed on her intensely. Her head was bowed as she walked in slow measured steppes, three women following, matched her every step. Trip focused his mind on her, in a hopeless effort to make himself heard, without words. He quietly longed for her to know each thought, and to feel what he was feeling. ‘Can you hear me?’ His eyes and heart silently spoke the message that he so earnestly wanted her to receive. ‘Please T’Pol let me know. Tell me… silently.’
As T’Pol neared to pass him, his sorrow returned. Still his gaze remained fixed, and unwavering. T’Pol continued to move forward, her gaze cast down. When she reached him, her head lifted slowly. Seeming to move in a slowed motion; she stepped out of the traditional ceremony formation, tuning to face him. Their eyes locked and he knew instantly his message was heard, understood. She too carried a message. He replied reflecting back his understanding, his acceptance and, his love. The exchange ended with T’Pol placing a passionate kiss on his check. Trip closed his eyes. As he did, a whisper caressed his mind and touched his soul.
Touching, yet never touching, apart yet never parted. Ashayam.
I've been in a blue funk all day over what the writers didn't show, but we're supposed to fill in the blank ourselves. Reading your fic paves the way for me to get past what all loyal Trip and T'Polers will never accept. Thank you much! On 24 October 2004 at 04:39 AM Jamieson said:
Very sad...the ep was done well, but still made me mad - got up early to watch it on tape before heading to my sparring class, was able to stake it out on the bad. Your story helped to make it a little less wrenching - poor Trip! :-> On 26 October 2004 at 06:48 AM DestinyGirl said:
